Starting Over

It had been three weeks since Steve had rescued me from the raft and finally, the scientists had figured out a way to help Bucky. Steve and I had sprinted to the lab as soon as T'challa told us and we got there just in time for Bucky to wake up from cryo freeze.

"Bucky!" I squealed as I tackled him in a hug. He laughed as he caught me and returned my over enthusiastic hug. It was short lived however, when he saw Steve standing in the doorway. Bucky quickly deposited me in T'challa's arms who moved me so that I was sitting on his shoulders. I smiled down at him before turning to see Steve and Bucky hug and cry over how much they missed each other. "They're so adorable!" I said excitedly as T'challa laughed at my enthusiasm.

"They're a perfect bromance." he muttered quietly. You would think that, him being a king and all, that he would act like he had a stick up his butt but no. He was actually one of the most childish people I've met and often helped me take my prank ideas and put them on a larger scale. The lab still smelled suspiciously of popcorn from one of my more edible tricks. Once Steve and Bucky were done "bromancing", they walked over and T'challa gently set me in Steve's arms. "Are you ready Mr. Barnes?" he asked Bucky.

"More than you know." Bucky whispered. Several scientists came over and led Bucky to a chair in a sealed room where they hooked him up to a bunch of monitors and injected him with a red substance. I turned away and buried my face in Steve's chest.

"I can't watch." I whispered as Steve gently rubbed my back and place small kisses to my temple every so often. I wanted to be there for Bucky but this so badly reminded me of my time with Ultron and the things he did still had a huge impact on me. As I gripped Steve's arm, I heard Bucky scream in pain and the sound of things being knocked over. Then, everything went silent. I heard footsteps and slowly turned around to see T'challa walking into the room with Bucky. He held up a red book with a black star on it and started reading off words in Russian. I saw Bucky tense up and I shifted, ready to run into the room if the serum hadn't worked. T'challa finished reading from the book and looked at Bucky apprehensively. Bucky looked up at T'challa and grinned. "Son of a bitch," I breathed, a smile forming on my face "it worked." I sprang down from Steve's arms and giggled as he raced into the room and tackled Bucky in another hug. After he had helped him back up, I tackled Bucky right back down to the ground in another hug.

He groaned and mumbled "I need to start wearing a helmet around you two." I laughed and offered him a hand up then looked at the two super soldiers apprehensively.

"So," I asked, grinning "What do we do now?"

"Now?" Steve asked as he put me on his shoulders and slung and arm around Bucky's "Now we start over."
