It was night time already when they arrived at the central town of Berk. Sure they went out of the forest in day time though walking from the entrance of the forest to the village wasn't an easy and fast walk. When the two teens arrived at their destination, Hiccup decided to tour [Y|N].
"This is Berk. It's twelve days north of Hopeless and a few degrees south of Freezing to Death." Hiccup introduced, spreading his arms as he does so. "It's located solidly on the Meridian of Misery. My village."
[Y|N] listened at the viking, a smile etching on her lips that was still hidden by her mask.
"And how do you describe Berk in a word, Hiccup?" She questioned, playing along Hiccup's narration.
"In a word? Sturdy." Hiccup answered, nonchalantly.
[Y|N] could just shake her head, letting out a chuckle, "Continue your narration, viking boy"
"Ha.Ha. Very funny. Now—"
"It's been here for seven generations, but every single building is new. We have fishing, hunting, and a charming view of the sunsets." Hiccup explained as he gestures the houses that both of them pass by, a bittersweet of tone laced within Hiccup's voice.
"The only problems are the pests."
"Pest...?"
"You see, most places have mice or mosquitoes... We have..." Hiccup trailed off as his eyes looked around, squinting as he does so.
Unexpectedly, Hiccup grabbed the forearm of his new found friend and quickly and went a sharp turn to his house. [Y|N]'s brows furrowed, questioning what's with the sudden rush.
Her gaze surveyed around the area and then it clicked. A Monstrous Nightmare was about to attack them. With the closest call, Hiccup dragged [Y|N] inside his house and slammed the door shut just in time before they became viking barbeques.
Hiccup's green eyes stared down the floor board and snapped back to look at (E/C) ones.
"Dragons!" Hiccup shouted with a little panicky.
—
[Y|N]
"This...This is,"
"You okay there? [Y|N]?" Hiccup asks, carefully looking for any scratches or burn on me as he questions.
"I-I'm fine.." I stammered an answered, my mind in disarray.
What's happening? Dragons attacking?
When he didn't see anything wrong, Hiccup spoke again.
"Stay right here," he said, scrambling around his house. "I-I'm gonna go fight," Hiccup found what he was looking for. A weapon. He run out of the door.
It took a minute before it fully sink in.
Now's not the time to be surprised. It was dangerous outside and Hiccup went through the very same charred door.
I followed and run out, hot on his trail.
This is weird. Really, really weird.
With my experience with dragons that I gathered for years, I know, for a fact, that they don't just go out and attack villages without any reasons. They were no different from your typical wild life.
So, to see them pillaging the village, without—I'm assuming—the vikings doing anything to them was a bizarre sight to see.
"There's something wrong here..." I looked around the area, everything was burning while vikings were doing their best to protect what they have.
A blur of brown hair passed me that I didn't let go unnoticed.
Following that blur, I saw Hiccup trying to fight off the dragons. Key word here is: trying. Watching the scene unfold, I saw a burly and large came up to him and started shouting at Hiccup.
Oh no, this wasn't good.
Screech!
A red Deadly Nadder approached me from behind, their jade eyes turned into slits as they bare their sharp teeth at me. I looked around, checking to see if there were any eyes on me, and fortunately, the people were too pre-occupied at other dragons at hand.
I clicked my tongue repeatedly, cooing at the dragon.
"Hey, big guy," I gently told them, my hands out, free of weapons. "I won't hurt you, I promise."
And as if understanding, they slowly hid their razor sharp tail, their head tilting in curiosity. Okay, now that's settled...
I looked back at the pair of vikings still in the middle of a one-sided argument. Then, I looked back to the dragon in front of me. "I really need your help."
The Deadly Nadder, tilted it's head again.
Look at this cutie, you gushed.
"Follow me for a bit, yeah?"
The Nadder's once slit pupils turned ovals, an audible purr rumbling out of it's huge chest. I couldn't help but smile and carefully went closer to the red dragon. I gave them a few more space if they had any second thoughts but it didn't take me too much time as the Nadder lowered its body.
A good sign.
I climbed on its back with practiced ease and grounded my feet, my hands finding its way to grip onto it's horns. I gently pat his head. "Smart boy, aren't you?" I praised my new found friend.
I leaned closer.
"Can you run in between them, sweetie?" I ushered. And in a beat, the Nadder started to from a walk, to a jog, and finally a sprint.
We run passed through different dragons and vikings as we charge full steam ahead to where Hiccup and older viking was.
"Move away! Nadder on the loose!" I boomed, though to be honest I just blurt it out, my voice was just naturally loud.
—
The father and son argument went into a halt when ear-bleeding screech of a Deadly Nadder tore through the area and somewhat boyish voice accompanying the noise. Before any of the two could comprehend what happened, a red Nadder slam down between, a masked and cloaked person on it.
"What are you two doing?! Dragons are raiding! Less talk, more fighting!" As soon as that been said, the mysterious person jumped off and grabbed Hiccup away.
"[Y|N]?!" He looked at you dumbfounded, letting himself be pulled away from his father. It was for the better, anyways.
"Shush," You gently hushed him, "and what was that?"
Hiccup looked back and saw his father, shocked as himself.
"Uhh," he trailed off, "how about we go here before we could talk more." Despite still in shock, Hiccup started to lead the way to a shack near them.
"Fine," The teen relented and followed the brunette.
[Y|N] looked over their shoulder, and wished for the Deadly Nadder's safety in this battle.
I need to find the cause of this, she thought before disappearing into the building.
