Chapter 12

I woke up and saw it was only 4 am. Cameron had his arm around me. I sat up and had tears rolling down my face. All I could think about was my dad and when him and my mom got divorced. She won't let me see him or even talk to him. He could be dead for all I know. They got divorced almost 2 years ago. Cameron opened his eyes and looked at me. He noticed I was crying.

"Lex, what's wrong?"

"It's just my dad.."

"What about him?" He asked trying to make eye contact with me.

"Well him and my mom got divorced 2 years ago and I haven't talked or seen him since. My mom is really overprotective when it comes to him. I just miss him.."

"I'm sorry, I didn't know."

"Oh no it's ok.."

"Well we should get back to bed" he said laying back down

"I'm not tired.. I'm gonna go on a walk.."

Cameron's POV

I feel really bad for asking her about her dad. I could tell it was hurting her. She looked really upset.. Should I go with her on the walk..

"Do you want me to go with you?" I asked her

"No it's ok." She replied

She opened the tent and left.. I hope nothing happens to her... I will just go back to bed and she will probably be back by morning.

I woke up and saw it was 8 am and everyone was still asleep and Lexie still was gone.. She has been gone for 4 hours. I got up and pulled out my phone to see if I had service to call.. There was 1 bar. I tried calling her and there was no answer. I unzipped the tent and got out to go look for her .. I looked for over an hour and could not find her. I wonder if she went back to her tent. I got to her tent but before I could open it I could hear sniffling. I opened the tent and she was in the corner with her head in her knees. I went and sat by her and put my arm around her and she laid her head on my shoulder.

"What's wrong?" I whispered in her ear

"I... I... I really miss my dad. I wish my mom would just let me talk to him. She doesn't trust me. My dad used to always have just time for just me and him and we would always go do something fun. My mom is always to busy for me."

"Im sure she wants to spend more time with you" I said pulling her closer.

"Cameron promise me that you will never leave me.." She said looking up at me with her big brown eyes.

"I promise." I said kissing her on the head

Lexie's POV

I felt really stupid for just crying about it. I don't know what to do. I really want to meet my dad. I am so glad Cameron was here to comfort me and didn't think I was stupid for crying. I had no make up on and I am pretty sure I had bags under my eyes. I barely got any sleep last night.

"BREAKFAST IS READY!" I heard my mom yell

We got up and got out of the tent and went over to where we had the campfire.

"I'm not hungry.." I said putting my head on Cameron's shoulder.

Cameron started eating some bacon and kept trying to make me eat. Soon as we all finished eating we all got ready to go on a hike. We each got a water bottle and put some sunscreen on.
