You twirled the ice cubes that swam in your water with your straw.

"So... uh... what are you gonna do once the pizzeria gets demolished?" Jeremy asked. He tucked a strand of hair behind his ear. "You'll be out of a job!"

"Huh. Shit. Never thought of that. Ehhhh..." fritz tilted his head up towards the ceiling and placed a freckled hand on his neck. "I dunno. I'll probably, like, take up a job at that sucky bakery not too far off from my apartment. Gag me."

"Wh--what about you, Y/N?"

You tilted your head side to side, like you were weighing options. Even though you had none. It was either get a job at the new place or bust. You weren't sure what you were going to do in the meantime. You had next to none of the experience that was needed for the other jobs around the area.

Fritz extended his legs under the table, stretching them. his shoes touched your shins. "Ugh, man, whens the food gonna get here?"

"It's right there." Jeremy pointed at the waitress from earlier. she was carrying a large platter adorned with the dishes you had previously ordered.

"Bitchin'."

you three ate your lunch together, making friendly conversation. Fritz managed to finish all of his, despite the large serving, but you and jeremy needed doggy bags to take the food home in. You could eat the left overs for dinner later that evening. Fritz offered to eat it for you, but you just laughed and said no as if it was a joke, even though it probably wasn't. You looked forward to an entire night of sleep, something you hadn't gotten in an entire week. poor fritz, on the other hand, wasn't so lucky. he had the night shift tonight.

Jeremy told you all about how much Fritz complained every time he had to work nights, and how he managed to get fired, much to fritz's dismay. how did he manage to get fired on his first day??

fritz also told you about his "wastoid" coworker, who was, in fritz's words, "kind of a douche." You learned he was the one who had the night shift week before Jeremy.

"Thinks he's so special, because he has the purple uniform." Fritz continued. "He's fucken' weird too. Didn't even care about the whole child murder thing!" Fritz visibly cringed. "can't believe the whole thing happened right under my nose..." he muttered, looking understandably guilty. "Waste of human life. the annoying part is I was a suspect at one point! Hmph. Wasn't even supposed to be working that day. I was doing overtime." he rambled on. "Of course when I was questioned I had an alibi, so i'm all good, but it took up a lot of precious time i could have been using for something else!"

"like -- like what?"

"uhhhhhhhh literally anything I guess."

Nobody knew how to continue so there was a moment of silence.

"still sucks that those kids died though..." Fritz offered, in an attempt to make himself seem less like an asshole. It wasn't really working.
