After work you dropped by Vincent's house. You hadn't heard from him in a while.
You knocked on his door twice. Just as you were about to knock for the third time, the door swung open. Vincent stood in a T-shirt and jeans.
"Oh! Hey," Vincent greeted. If he was surprised, he didn't show it. "Come in, please." He stepped aside and gestured to the inside of his house.
You stepped in and told Vincent you hadn't seen him in a while.
"Ah... Sorry, my schedule has been kind of full lately." He glanced at your feet. "You can take your shoes off, by the way."
You kicked your shoes off, nudged them to the side of the hallway with your toe, and asked him what had been going on.
"Well most notably..." he shot a dirty look at your dirty shoes, and then refocused his attention. "...I went to Scott's funeral the other day."
Oh! If you had known it was happening, you would have gone.
"Eh, it was kind of a private thing anyway." Vincent shrugged and rolled his head to the side.
Oh.
Vincent led you to his room. "It was really sad, too, it wasn't very fun," he continued. "Well, funerals aren't exactly supposed to be." He looked at the wood floor and rubbed his chin. "There weren't a lot of people there, because like I said, it was a private ceremony. It was mostly his extended family, and such. And his ex-wife was there."
How sad.
Vincent sat on his bed and motioned for you to do the same. "She stood over the casket, which was uh, closed, unsurprisingly. She cried the whole time. Which I thought was weird, because based on what Scott told me about her, she hated his guts." He shrugged again. "Anyway. What have you been up to?"
You told Vincent that Mike still wanted him dead.
"Huh..." Vincent smiled a little and rolled his eyes. "Can't say I expected anything else."
A few minutes of silence passed between the both of you.
DING DONG! The sound of the doorbell rang through the house.
Vincent suddenly stood up. "I should get that. I'll return shortly." You watched him leave the room. You heard him open the door and then a faint voice say something about our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
You looked around. You hadn't explored much. Your eyes rested on his nightstand. It had a lamp and a glass of water on it. It had a drawer in it.
Well... Surely Vincent wouldn't mind you snooping around, would he?
