A Better Best Friend

Dinner was fine I was expecting it so be awkward but it wasn't. We had chicken Alfredo and my dads homemade cheesy garlic bread, it's everyone's favorite. Garrett sat next to Jack like always and talked about basketball, Jack told him all about the last game and his concussion. Garrett seemed mesmerized it was like he was talking to his favorite celebrity. Darian doesn't really like Jack, but then again he doesn't really like anyone except the kids in his friend group which isn't very many. I just enjoyed my food and just watched Jack, then my mom spoke,

"So Jack how's school going?" She asked. I smiled and jacks face got red,

"Well you know it could always be better." He said. Good job playing off the question. My dad smiled, and Jack took a sip of water,

"Got a girlfriend yet? Your mom was telling me you're a real ladies man." My dad said. Jack spit his water in his cup and I choked on my food.

"No, no girlfriend." He said, his face was very red but his shirt also was so I doubt they were thinking anything.

"It's about time Elyssa finds herself a boyfriend it's been a while." My mom said.

"Mom stop." I said. She smiled,

"Guess there aren't many guys at your school as nice as Jack." She said. My face got so hot.

"Mom!" I yelled.

"Well there aren't any girls at school like Elyssa either." Jack said patting me on the head.

"Yeah apparently not." Garrett said. Jack looked at him, I couldn't see his eyes but I could tell he gave him the death look because garret looked down at his food and stopped talking.

"You guys are all so weird." Darian said. My dad laughed. We finished eating and then Jack and I went back upstairs.

"Thanks for dinner it was great." Jack said at the top of the steps before coming in my room.

"No more making out." I said pointing at him. He nodded and smiled and then grabbed the remote, "No more office either that's all we ever watch." I said grabbing the remote from him.

"I like it when you take charge." He said rubbing his hand on my thigh. I laid back leaning on him and he wrapped his arms around me. I turned on stranger things. My favorite thing about stranger things is the music I love it. We watched for a while and then jacks phone started going off. First it was a few texts and then a call, and another call and then a FaceTime.

"Jack just get it." I finally said. He grabbed his phone off of my night stand.

"It's Finn." He said blandly. He put his phone up to his ear. "Why are you blowing me up?" He asked. "Oh, no way. Dude that's awesome. Yeah, yeah cool okay. I'll talk to you more about it later okay? Yeah, alright I'll talk to you later." He hung up.

"What was it?" I asked. Jack smiled.

"Finn asked out Millie and she said yes." Jack said.

"Oh wow good for Finn." I said. "And for Millie." I added. I love Finn he's one of my best friends. I love his laugh and the way that his skin is pale and his hair is dark so he's like a vampire. He's Jacks best friend not counting me, they're kind of like Emily and I except they're closer. Finn and Jack have the same godparents so they grew up always going to family stuff even though they aren't actually related. Then I got a strong urge to pee.

"Jack I'm going to the bathroom." I said. I walked out of my room to go to the bathroom when I heard my parents talking. I heard my dad say,

"Man I'm surprised those two haven't started dating each other yet. They're at that age." He said. My mom nodded,

"Yeah kids who grow up as best friends usually end up being boyfriend and girlfriend." She said.

"I'm sure they've both thought about." He said. I mentally laughed.

"It might by hurt to wait a while because if anything happens and they lose that friendship it's going to hit them both very hard." My mom said.

"Yeah I was talking to Gavin last time we went over there, and he said that Jack always talked about Elyssa even if conversations had nothing to do with her. He actually said it got to the point where he didn't even know if Jack realized he was doing it." My dad said.

Wow that's interesting, Jack really does like me. I also guess I never would've thought our parents were waiting to see when we'd start dating. I went into the bathroom and pulled my phone out. I had a text from Garrett,

G-If I keep secret I need favor in return
Elyssa-You type like a caveman, are you dumb?
G-Not funny, typing like this makes it go faster
Elyssa-Whatever
Elyssa-You don't get a favor
G-I could tell right now, mom and dad from the sound of it would live to hear about it....
Elyssa-You asshole don't say a word
G-Favor.
Elyssa-Fine what is it
G-I want a date with Emily
Elyssa-What?! She's 2 years older than you
G-Ik I'm kidding
G-What I actually want is $20 and a ride to the movies tomorrow night
Elyssa-Yeah good thing I can drive
G-You can't, but Emily can
Elyssa-Leave her out of this
G-Mom and dad>Favor
Elyssa-Ok fine, but what if she doesn't agree
G-Then you'll have Jack ask Finn, Finn would never say no to Jack
Elyssa-How long have you been thinking about this?
G-How long have you been dating Jack
Elyssa-K bye.

I finished my business and went back in my room. Jack was laying in my bed with his shirt off it seemed like he was trying to go to sleep. I saw his abs, omg.

"Why is you shirt off?" I asked laying down next to him.

"I'm trying to go to sleep, I'm so tired." He said.

"Okay fine. Just try to cover up." I said I pulled the blanket up and cuddled up to Jack. "Goodnight Jacky." I said. Our faces were maybe an inch apart. He pecked me on the lips.

"Night Lys." He said. I put my face into his warm bare chest. He wrapped his arms around my shoulders and we laid together until I fell asleep.

Note-Interesting Chapter. I'm dead tired. Also wondering why chapter 7 has more reads than 5 and 6. And 10 had more than 7. It's weird.
