A Better Best Friend

Jack and I decided on a date. He's taking me to Monocacy Crossing, a very nice restaurant and then after that it's a surprise. I'm excited, very excited. We're going out tomorrow so today I'm just having a girls day with Millie, Emily, and Sophia. We've become closer, and Emily and Jaeden started talking but we decided it would be best if Sophia didn't know that. Nobody has come over yet, we set plans for everyone to come over at 6 and it is currently 4:57. Emily said she was coming over at 5 so I'm expecting her to come over around now. My phone buzzes and it's a text from Jack,

Jacky💚-Hey bae
Lys-Hey what's up
Jacky💚-Not much Finny boy and I just got back
Lys-Back from what?
Jacky💚-We went to the sportsplex to shoot around, remember I was telling you last night
Lys-Yeah I forgot
Jacky💚-Wbu
Jacky💚-What're you doing today?
Lys-Lol I guess neither of us listen
Jacky💚-?
Lys-Remember? I'm doing girls night at my house
Jacky💚-Oh shit that right, Millie was texting Finn about that apparently she's really excited
Lys-Really?
Jacky💚-Yeah she said she's glad to be getting to know you guys better
Lys-That's great, I'm glad to be getting to know her better too. Now I can give Finn a heads up before he fucks with another girl
Jacky💚-Hey! No swearing on my mine craft server!
Lys-Shut up short stuff
Jacky💚-Oh yeah make fun of the short kid
Jacky💚-That doesn't even make sense I'm taller than you
Lys-And?

My doorbell rings and I walk over and open it, and of course, it's Em.

"Hey!" I yell hugging her. She laughs,

"You act like you haven't seen me for a few years." She took her shoes off and sat on the couch.

"Well it sure feels like it." I said looking back down at my phone.

"Who're you texting?" She asked pulling her phone out too.

"Oh you know, Jacky poo." I said smiling.

"Dumb questions I guess." She said laughing again. I looked at my phone and saw several messages from Jack.

Jacky💚-Wow I guess I never realized funny you were
Jacky💚-Left on read??
Jacky💚-Hlo? Sho Nipal
Lys-Sorry, Emily just got here so I was saying hi to my guest.
Jacky💚-Ok, well me and Finn are gonna smoke and get drunk so I'll text you later
Lys-Oh my god! Are you serious?
Jacky💚-No lol
Lys-😡Not funny
Jacky💚-Eh, it was kinda funny
Jacky💚-I am gonna go tho, I'll let you guys get back to your hang out session
Lys-Ok, have fun doing whatever you guys decide to do
Jacky💚-I shall try to enjoy myself M'Lady 🙃
Lys-You're such a dork
Jacky💚-I'm still cute tho right?
Lys-Bye
Jacky💚-Ok lol ttyl babe

I smiled, I love it when he calls me babe. Emily giggled,

"What're you smiling about." She asked playfully.

"Oh nothing." I said playing it off. "I'm so glad I'm dating Jack, I was skeptical at first but I have to say being his girlfriend is way better than being his friend." That was pretty out of the blue but I still feel like a weight has kind of been lifted off of my shoulders.

"Well that's good, to be honest everyone knew you guys would get together we just didn't know when." She said looking down at her phone.

"Wait what do you mean everyone?" I asked confused. I don't think I'd given off any kind of signals that I was into jack like that before.

"Well, it's just like I said. Everyone, our whole friend group especially Finn but maybe Jack was talking to him about it." She said with more confidence than I would've thought. "It's kind of like in movies when guys and girls who grow up as best friends always end up being the perfect pair. I guess everyone saw that between the two of you." She said.

"Wow. I guess I never thought of it like that. Do you think Jack thought of us that way?" I asked. The questioned echoed through my mind until Emily answered.

"I mean, probably. I know you probably didn't notice because, well it doesn't matter, but sometimes when you would turn your back or look away Jack would stare at you like he was looking at a goddess. He'd look at you like you were one of the greatest things he'd ever seen." She said, hearing her say that made me tear up. I've never seen Jack look at me like that, I wonder if I feel as strongly about him as he does about me.

"He really do-" I started to cry because of how sweet it was.

"Awe, Lys why're you crying?"Emily asked me standing up.

"That's so sweet, Jack is so good to me I could never make it up to him." I said taking a stutter breath after I finished.

"You are good to Jack just text him and ask right now, I guarantee he'll say something nice." She said. I wiped my eyes with my shirt and tried to call myself down, I'm not even sad I'm just so happy that Jack feels that way I just didn't expect it.

"No, no. I don't need to text him it's fine." I said. I stood up and went to the kitchen for some water. Just as I grabbed a glass out of the cabinet the doorbell rang.

"I'll get it!" Emily yelled from the living room. I started to fill up my water and heard the door squeak as it opened, "Oh hi Millie!" She yelled. I spit my water out. Millie? She's like 30 minutes early!

"Hi! Sorry I'm early I just, well I was so excited for this sleep over I couldn't wait anymore. I love sleep overs!" She said. I love her accent. I also love that she's so excited to become Em and I's friend.

"It's okay." I said walking out into the living room. "Emily came over early too, so I think I should probably text Sophia and tell her to come on over." I said. We all laughed.

"Gosh I'm so excited I think I'm going to pop!" Millie said looking around. "Your house is so lovely Elyssa, I love it." She said smiling.

Note-Lil bit of a transition chapter. This book is starting to come on and it's making me happy.
