Freya found no rest that night, as she tossed and turned in her bed. Yesterdays event's played through her mind. The last thing she wanted to do was get into a fight with the Dwarf, but she couldn't help but feel a little angry that Thorin didn't see that this was just as much as his problem as it was everyone else in Middle Earth.
The Hobbit sat up and rubbed her eyes as she felt the first few rays of light, shinning into her quarters. She let out a yawn, tossing the blankets off of her and forced herself to get out of bed, knowing she wasn't going to get anymore rest. The meeting to decide the fate of the ring was today. Freya couldn't help but wonder, after their disagreement if Thorin would even be attending the meeting now. His decision that he wanted no part in it was pretty clear.
Once, she was dressed. Freya left her quarters to find her daughters, so they could join the Wizard and Frodo to attend the meeting. The Hobbit woman walked in silence until she arrived at her daughters door and knocked. The door slowly opened to reveal Thea all ready to go. She informed her mother that Thora had left earlier this morning, saying she had something important to discuss with the Wizard. The two of them left the room and headed over to the courtyard.
"Freya, my dear. I am so glad you are here." Gandalf greeted. The Hobbit gave a small smile, but it quickly fell and Wizard could sense something else was on her mind. Thea wandered passed them over to her sister and Frodo and they went into the courtyard. The Wizard was about to do the same when Freya spoke up.
"Gandalf," Freya began, only to stop for a second.
"Yes, my dear." Gandalf answered, waiting for her to continue.
"Has he...Is Thorin here yet?" She asked in hesitation.
"I'm afraid not." He informed with disappointment. " But I am sure he'll turn up." The Wizard added with high hopes in his voice and the two of them slowly walked towards the courtyard.
"I hope so." Freya whispered quietly for only herself to hear. Freya glanced around the courtyard to see who showed up for the meeting. Some she recognized, like Strider, who sat on the left of Lord Elrond. Their was other men that had come, Elves, even one she remembered from sixty years ago, on the quest to reclaim Erebor. However, she noticed the blonde Elf didn't seem to recognize who she was as she took a seat beside the Wizard and Frodo. Thora and Thea sat in the next chairs beside their mother. The Hobbit woman looked at the three empty seats between the Elves and Men and saw not one Dwarf was present and her eyes fell to the ground.
Lord Elrond glanced at the Wizard who gave a short nod to get this meeting started and the Elf lord was about to begin when the sound of footsteps coming from the entrance caught his attention. Thorin was the first to enter, followed by Gloin and his son Gimli. The Dwarf king ignored all the surprised whispers as he walked passed them and took a seat in one of the three available chairs. The others doing the same. Freya looked over at Thorin, but the Dwarf just turned away.
"Strangers from distant lands, friends of old. You have been summoned here to answer the threat of Mordor. Middle Earth stands upon the brink of destruction. None can escape it. You will unite or you will fall. Each race is bound to this fate, this one doom." The Elf looks at them all and settles on Frodo, gesturing to him. "Bring forth the Ring, Frodo.
Frodo walks over to the stone plinth in the middle of the circle and carefully puts the Ring down on it. Whispers are heard from all around, one of the men puts his hand to his mouth. " So it's true." The young hobbit sits back down and sighs, closing his eyes. Legolas and Gimli eye the Ring suspiciously as it seemingly speaks to them and the man that spoke earlier stands up. " In a dream I saw the Eastern sky grow dark ." The man started to walk towards the Ring and continues to approach the stone table and Lord Elrond looks at Gandalf concerned. "In the West a pale light lingered. A voice was crying, your doom is near at hand. Isildur's bane is found." The man stretched out his hand towards the Ring as if he was gonna take it. " Isildurs Bane."
