HERRIN
A snarl slipped from his lips as he tossed the papers on the desk's glossy surface. "What kind of garbage is this?"
The man who'd delivered the report trembled. His status in the pack was so slow, he might as well have been the Omega. The Alpha hardly knew he existed, but then, he didn't take it personally. The Alpha of the Orion Pack wasn't known for being warm and fuzzy, even before the incident. After... well, leaving his office without blood drawn was the sign of a good visit.
"It's the latest report from the research you ordered."
The Alpha froze. Rugged features all the females swooned over contorted in rage. "Research that I commanded over a decade ago to be stopped. What should I do when confronted with evidence that my orders were ignored? Disobedience is not tolerated Herron."
Herron nodded frantically. Were he in his wolf form, his tail would tucked between his legs, and the man before him knew it. A slight widening of nostrils from his leader was the proof the man had caught the smell of weakness. Weakness that he was within his rights to act upon. The animal inside of the Alpha would push for its elimination, and Herron could only hope that his Alpha still maintained a shred of his humanity.
"Sir, I wasn't aware of those orders. I'm just delivering the papers."
Herron wanted to go belly up when the Alpha stepped forward, but he reached for the report instead of swiping at the inferior beast. Clear nails became black talons and the Alpha raked his claws through the document until it littered the desk like confetti.
"Since you're such a good little delivery boy, you're going to take a message back for me. Before you leave here, you'll repeat my message back to me, word for word. Do you understand?"
"Y-yes sir," he whined, mentally kicking the cowering wolf inside of him. If he could, he would kill the animal that made him bend to this man. But for now, he could only listen and repeat.
