Try try try, to follow the rules
I break every one of them with boys like you
My oh my, doing what I always do
Yeah I'm crossing every line to get to boys like you/////
A month later
I really, really, really, really liked Nico.
He liked boys.
But he wasn't ready. He and I both shared that knowledge without saying it. Even if he were, and he liked me, it's only been a month. I wouldn't want to rush. I don't wanna destroy our friendship. Because it was great.
We hadn't really talked as deep as we had after the movies. But we did hang out a lot. We didn't say much about the deep personal things of our life. We told each other basic stuff. Favorite food. Favorite movie. Favorite colors.
It was still fun to listen to him talk about the backstory behind his favorite things. I liked listening to his voice and his laugh, oh my god, his laugh. It makes your heart pace a million miles an hour. It makes you wanna just cry. And hold him. And play an endless loop of his laughter.
Leo always laughed at me and said that I was in the friend zone. Even if I were, I wouldn't mind, because I'd always be able to hear his laugh. I'd always get to text him at 3 am in the morning.
So, I was in the friend zone, but I was with him.
But I was bummed because I didn't get him as my partner for our plant response project in science since he wasn't in my class. But, I was assigned Hazel. That was close enough.
So after practice, and getting yelled at Mr. Brunner while he had 8 meltdowns in the span of 20 minutes, Hazel invited me to come over in about an hour to discuss the project. I came a few minutes early just because I was excited. And then I saw their house and holy shit dude. It was huge compared to mine. It had two stories, too. It looked so fancy. I was in amazement. No chipping wood. Perfectly polished.
Man, I wish lived there. I knocked on the door, looking around and waiting patiently. The door flew open almost immediately and Hazel stood there, smiling wildly and fixing her hair. She looked different than she did at school. She had makeup on and was wearing a nice pink dress that complimented her skin tone. "You look really pretty, but you always do," I complimented. "I really like your house, too."
"Oh," she blushed. "thank you. Come in." She stepped out of the way and I walked in, viewing the house with awe. It was so pretty and neat and relaxing and comforting and jesus, I felt insecure.
"Ooh, is that your boyfriend?" I heard a small voice said, and a small head poked over the side of the wall and stared at Hazel. I noticed she was bald. I remembered Esperanza telling me about Nico's sister, so I wasn't surprised. I smiled.
"Bianca I told you to stay in your room, you unlaced shoe."
"Yeah, well, I don't take orders from JERKS," Bianca emphasized. She bounced towards me and pulled out her hand like a businesswoman despite the fact that she was wearing a my little pony onesie and a tiara. "Bianca Levesque-di Angelo, resident."
I bent down so I could shake her hand. "Will Solace, student."
Bianca looked me up and down, walked around me, and even sniffed me. She walked back into my view and nodded. "I approve. You have gained guest rights."
I nodded in return. "Good. I will respect your rules as long as I stay." I looked up at Hazel, who was smiling warmly, her hands crossed at her waist pleasantly.
