-Will Solace-

I wasn't sure if I should call Nico. I decided he was angry with me and that he needed time to deal privately. Frank drove me home because he was the only one who had seen my house -- if I were being honest, I didn't want anybody to see it. Magnus, Alex, Percy, Nico, Hazel, they all were rich and had beautifully crafted houses. I was embarrassed. I was so stressed that I began drinking, Frank always having a supply in his car.

Frank and I said our goodbyes and I took a deep breath. I hadn't been there in a week but I noticed the lights on through the curtains. Dad was home. I doubted he was waiting for me. I walked in, trying to get to my room without being seen. Things didn't go as plan. I stumbled as soon as I saw Aiyana and my dad cuddling on the couch. Dad's head snapped back and his face brightened. I couldn't hide the confusion on my face.

Emotions fought each other in my mind. I was scared that Nico was going to break up with me. I was sad because I thought I had upset him. I was angry that the girl that dad changed for was here, obvious that he had made an effort to reach her but never me.

"Will! You're home."

I didn't say anything.

Dad stood and Aiyana followed after him. "Hello, Will."

"What are you doing here?" I blurted. Anger that I had suppressed had bubbled up and popped. My heart tug at the demanding question and tears surfaced in my eyes. "Dad, what's she doing here?"

Dad's smile wavered. He didn't even know how I felt about her. "Will-"

"It's fine, A," Aiyana insisted.

"A? A...you've got to be shitting me," I said.

"Will...are you drunk?" Dad asked, his voice shaking.

I nodded. "Like father like son."

"Will, I think you should sit down," Aiyana suggested.

I narrowed my eyes at her. "I think you should leave."

"She stays," my dad said sternly.

I bowed. "Fine. I'll leave."

"You can't leave in your state, Will. I'll leave," Aiyana agreed.

"Nobody's leaving," dad hissed. "Will, what is this about?"

"Why is she here?" I asked again, tears filling my eyes again. They both remained quiet. I slammed on the table.

"I invited her."

"I'm leaving," I said, trying to walk out but dad blocked the door. "Move! Move, move, move! You never cared before!"

"What are you talking about?"

"Why didn't you call the cops?" I shouted. I stumbled and almost fell but Aiyana caught me and sat me up. "Why didn't you...Why didn't you care?"

"What?"

"3 months. I was gone for 3 months once, I was 13," I said, not sure why I was confessing. "I slept at the park. It was better than here."

"Will, Will," Him called. "Are you up in the tree? Come down! I wanna swing."

"You'll have to come up here and get me!" I giggled, 13 years old. The biggest yet the best climbing tree at the park. My jeans were ripped and full of grass stains. "Come up!"

He climbed up and sat on a branch opposite of me. The first thing he said was, "wow. Look at the sunset."

"The sunset changes every night. Yesterday it was painted orange, softly and carefully. Now, it's blue blending to purple. I want to live to see many sunsets and to write about each one," I said. I wasn't as formal, only formal enough to impress Him.
