Percy's Thirsty

   -Will, weeks later-

"It's almost Christmas!" I sang and twirled. "and we have no school!"

"Christmas break is a blessing," Alex sighed and stretched out her arms.

"Yep! It sure is," Percy smiled. "Hey, hey, what are we all doing before Christmas Eve?"

The gang(Nico, Leo, Percy, Frank, Magnus, Alex, Hazel, and I) were all sitting around each other at the park, Magnus and Alex on the swings and us sitting in the rocks around them. "Literally nothing," Magnus spoke for us all.

"Well...I really need you guys to give me advice!"

"Oof," we all said in unison.

"Okay..." he inhaled deeply. "I think I have a crush on somebody."

"Oh, who is it? Is it Jason Grace?" Alex teased. Jason and Percy were known for their bromance.

"I'm not gay," he said. "at least not in that way. At least not for him. Okay, it's on..."

"Literally just say it because we don't care," Alex teased again.

"You're so rude to me!"

"Oh, you know I kid," Alex rolled her eyes. "You're my best man."

"Aw, thank ya Alex!" Percy gushed. "Okay, it's on Annabeth Chase!"

Magnus let out a dramatic sigh. "Oh no."

"What?" Percy questioned obliviously.

If you were to stereotype our school, Annabeth would be at the very top. Even though we didn't separate into huge social groups, everybody did have friends, and those friend groups somehow fit into certain social groups. Annabeth? She was the popular girl. She was athletic, she was attractive, had the most instagram followers, but most of all— she's always been single. Many boys had made moves on her but she's never caved. Some boys had made rumors that they'd slept with her. Annabeth denied them. I believed her more.

Annabeth was from my neighborhood as well, but she hid it. She never said she was rich, but I knew that she wanted people to believe that. I sometimes see her riding her bike. She always waves at me.

"All the girls in school and you choose the blonde headed bimbo?" Alex rolled her eyes.

"Don't you call her that!" Percy demanded. "She's so smart. She's one of the smartest people I've ever known. She's smarter than all of you combined. She's my science partner, over the solar system project. Nobody wanted to pair up with me but she did! She even left Piper McLean!"

"Percy, how is it that you're a pretty popular guy but a lot of people don't like you?" Magnus's asked.

"Sports," he sighed. "but listen, Annabeth? She's something else. Whenever she smiles...my God. The woman is a work of art, I tell you. She does this thing where she puts a strand of hair behind her ear and she smiles and she writes down something from the science book. I've got it bad."

"You choose the impossible girl, why does that involve us?" Frank asked.

Percy smiled nervously. "I want to go out with her, b-but I don't want it to seem like I'm asking her on a date. Honestly, I don't even care that much about being her boyfriend. I'll settle for her close friend if anything. I just want to be close to her. So, how about we all go to the fair tomorrow? With Annabeth? She'll think it's just a friend outing. I don't want to scare her off."

"That's so sweet, Percy!" Hazel giggled. "I wish somebody cared for me like that."

"Oh, somebody does," Frank said.
