[LUCY'S P.O.V]

The sharp knocks at the door woke me up. My eyes dashed around the room, landing on Gray that was sleeping on my shoulder as we lay in my bed. His legs and arms were slung over me. The fact that I only had my bandages and night shorts made my face heat up.

"G-Gray! Someone's here!" I whispered forcefully. He looked up at me and smirked.

"Five more minutes..." He chuckled. I rolled my eyes and pushed him off. Wendy's hard work payed off, it didn't sting as much when I moved.

"Lucy?" 

I knew that voice. It was Natsu. I cursed softly, shoving Gray into the bathroom of my bedroom, ignoring his protests as I got back into bed. I called out, immediately hearing my door swing open and shut.

Natsu let himself in, and walked up to my bed.

"Lucy... Did I wake you up?" He asked, peering over to see my face. I could feel my face still red from before. I yawned falsely, and turned to him.

"Natsu." I said, greeting him with a raspy tone.

"Hi Lucy." He said in a quiet voice. "I wanted to come and see you earlier, but Gramps said I should let you be."

I nodded slowly, my eyes trailing to the bathroom door. Gray was peeking out listening to us.

"I wanted to give you these... You dropped them when you were... at the hotel." Natsu gave me my keys. I didn't realize I had dropped them. I stared at them for a moment, they had all been cleaned.

"T-Thank you..."

"L-Lisanna she..."

"I know." I said, comforting him. I considered how difficult it must of been on him too. I couldn't blame him for anything.

"I'm so sorry Lucy." He whispered.

"It's not your fault, Natsu. I was weak for letting her take the advantage..." I said, but he just shook his head.

"No... I knew she was going to hurt you. But I didn't protect you." He choked up, rubbing his eyes.

"What--"

"Lisanna wouldn't let me talk to you. I knew that she hated you, I knew what she was capable of, but I was too afraid of risking it. I was going to tell you but..." He trailed off. 

"Why would you let her?" I spoke up. A lump formed in my throat. 

Natsu didn't answer this time. I knew that he wanted to protect me... But why didn't he tell me before?

"Lucy I-"

"Get out."

"W-What..?"

"I said get out!" I yelled. Tears forming in my eyes. Natsu retreated. I smacked my hands against the bed, frustrated, angry. 

Gray came out of the bathroom, instantly wrapping his arms around me. I cried into his shoulder. Letting my emotions flow out.

"Lucy. You should know that Natsu didn't mean to hurt you." It was surprising to hear that coming from Gray. I knew how much he hated Natsu, but now he's sticking up for him?

"B-But why..." I murmured, looking down at my feet. Gray sighed deeply, pulling me into a tighter embrace.

"Don't worry... I'll be there to protect you..." Gray said, making me feel so safe. Like nothing matter except for right now.
