Chapter 16: Returning of the Ice Mage

[NATSU'S P.O.V]

Everything's been pretty great since Gray left. The whole guild-going-to-Lucy's-house thing actually worked. Yeah, it was my idea. I just wanted to get Lucy out of there. She was losing it. But now she's back to normal. We've been going on jobs, she hasn't spoken of Gray and she barely ever stays at home. I think she doesn't want to be alone.

"We're home!" I yelled, catching everyone's attention. We entered the guild to be greeted by most. It felt good having my old life back. Lucy actually saved me. Yeah! She saved my life.

"Welcome back, Natsu-san!" Wendy said, holding Carla in her hands. Happy joined them and so did we.

"It feels good to be back." Lucy sighed, slumping into a nearby chair. I sat down too.

I suddenly felt a tingling feeling in my nose. Like something was approaching. Never underestimate a Dragon Slayer's nose! The scent was becoming stronger and stronger. But I remember this scent. It was sweet, yet a tangy smell. But it smelled a bit weird. Like it had changed. I turned towards the guild doors, feeling like it was coming from there.

"Natsu, what's wrong?" Lucy said. I shook my head, saying that nothing was wrong. I stood up, trailing the scent.

I looked up, to see a blob of darkness. It was filling my eyes. It wasn't just my imagination. I felt it pulling me in. But this is where the scent was its strongest. I remember the smell.

"Natsu! Get away from it!" I heard Gramps say. I jumped back, doing as the Master said.

"Who are you?" I demanded. But it wasn't a blob at all. It began to shape into a human figure. My heart skipped a beat as the figure was now, our old friend...

Gray Fullbuster.

[LUCY'S P.O.V]

There he stood. Gray. The one I was waiting for. He's back. But he looked much, much different. He still had his silky black hair, but there were navy blue strands sticking out from the side. He had a strange scar across his forehead seeming to be highlighted. He's eyes were a dark shade of red and black, almost mixed together. He wore a black coat that spiked up at the top, a red belt going across his chest, boots with black crystals on the lining and finger cut gloves that were also black.

I stood there, gazing upon this new Gray. Was he even the person I used to know? The person I used to love? I glanced away at Natsu, his body filled with fear. Not even moving. I thought he would of began attacking Gray. But something was up.

"What are you doing here, Gray?" Natsu asked his tone was slightly fearful but low and deep. I wish I could see Gray's face through all the gloom and black aura.

"Just coming back to say 'hi' to all my old friends." He replied. His tone was cheerful, like he enjoyed tormenting the guild. His little friends appeared behind him once more. Sting, Rogue, Minerva, Orga and Rufus. They all seemed... Happy about something.

"Gray, are you back to rejoin the guild?" Master asked, but Gray just laughed.

"Why would I? This guild is rubbish! Rubbish! Yeah! And you freaks were wrong to defy me," Gray's dark eyes traveled towards me. His stare was unbearable. It's like he was looking deep into my soul, trying to control me. I felt... Guilty all of a sudden. Like it was my fault that he left. My fault that he hates the guild. My fault that he fell in love for me and I broke his heart.
