Katy drove over to TM just before 1pm, the memory of Juice in nothing but a diaper and boots still in her mind. She parked up in the lot and walked over to where Chibs was working, though she glanced around the lot she didn't see Juice anywhere.

"Hey dad, you fancy going out somewhere for lunch or are you wanting to just have lunch here?" She really wanted to spend time getting to know everything about her dad. After all that was the whole reason she came to California.

"Aye we can go out somewhere, just let me wash up, I'll be right out" Chibs replied turning and heading inside.

Katy stood awkwardly waiting for him to come back out. Tig approached her, "hey how you settling in sweetheart? Charming treating you right?" He asked in a very caring manner, perhaps Katy had judged him wrong when she just lumped him in as another scary biker. Really she should know better. Her own father was one of the scariest looking bikers she knew but he was as soft as a marshmallow when you got to know him.
"Hey Tig, yea I'm really enjoying Charming, just need to try and make a few more friends, don't really know where to find people round here you know?" She said honestly. It was something that had been bothering her a wee bit. Sure everyone at TM was super nice and friendly but she needed some actual friends that weren't in a motorcycle club.
"Well I dunno if you would be interested but there is a notice board down at the community gardens with like books clubs and shit on it? Maybe a good way to meet people?"

"Actually Tig that's a great idea. I will nip by there later and have a look. Thanks" she said with a genuine smile. Tig smiled back, happy to help. He thought Katy seemed like a nice girl, reminded him of his own daughters, he wanted her reunion with her dad to be a happy one and a long one. Let Chibs have what he probably never would. A functional relationship with at least one of his children.

Chibs came back out to meet Katy "Right hen, let's head off, I know a lovely wee cafe"
And with that they climbed into her car and drove back out the lot.

Katy couldn't help herself. She had to ask "So I didn't see Juice around the lot, was he off somewhere?"
Chibs turned to look at his daughter while she was driving, her question letting him know that she was more interested in Juice than he could have foreseen. He has presumed that the boy would make such an idiot of himself on the first date that there wouldn't be a second but that had obviously not happened. "Aye he's out driving the tow truck today, picking up break downs" Chibs explained, "You're quite fond of him then?" Chibs asked.
"Well yea I guess. He seems like a nice guy, why? It's not a problem is it?"
"No, no, course not. As I've said whatever makes you happy makes me happy. Just you let me know if he stops making you happy. Anyway turn left here and you will see the cafe"

Katy did as directed and pulled over in front of an adorable little cafe. Lunch with her dad was exactly what she needed.

They ended up spending two hours eating and chatting. Chibs was letting down his walls a bit, probably telling her more about the club that he should have but she was his daughter. She would never betray club secrets. And she would certainly never snitch to the cops.

Just as they were getting ready to leave Deputy Hale walked in.
"Hello again Katy, good to see you are settling into Charming, not so sure about the company you are keeping though," he said with a pointed glance at Chibs.
Before Katy could say anything in her fathers defence Chibs had stood up almost like he was squaring up to the cop. "Who my daughter hangs around with is none of your business Hale." Chibs emphasised the word daughter to be sure Hale would catch on. Hales eyes went from Chibs to Katy searching for a family resemblance but he couldn't see it. She was beautiful and Chibs was practically haggard, the scars detracting from what might once have been a conventionally attractive face.
