Wind swept over the desert and sand hit the sides of the walls that held the Gerudo civilization. Inside, things were not so peaceful however. Gerudos, tall, tan skinned desert dwellers who were all women, were running around inside the Chief's room and outside, praying silently. Every hundred years, a boy Gerudo is born and will become their new leader, and they were due, so they all sat and prayed that things would be different this time.
One hundred years ago, a boy Gerudo was born by the name of Ganondorf, and proceed to destroy Hyrule as a whole. Ever since the Hero Of Time destroyed Ganondorf, exposing him for the monster he was, the Gerudo were ashamed of what they caused and their society struggled for some time. Now it was time again for another man to be born, and they feared the vile Ganon would take him over once more.
Grunts and cries of pain could be heard behind the door. The chief had been in labor all day, her husband and maids by her side. Typically, men were not allowed in Gerudo Town, but this was an exception. She held his hand tightly and cried out as she pushed, trying to keep her composure. She let out a final cry and pushed, then a soft cry could be heard throughout the room. She panted hard as the maids cleaned the child, snipped the cord, wrapped them and handed them to her without a single word about what sex the child was. She held the baby close and stared into their eyes. "...It's a boy." She looked at her husband. "You know what this means."
"It means we have a son, no more, no less." The father smiled softly and kissed her hand. "He will be a great leader as long as we teach him right. Ganondorf will be a grand leader."
She looked down at her child. "Ganondorf...That name has shamed my people, I cannot dare name him such a thing." She stroked the baby's bright red hair. "Even if it is a tradition."
"My love." He held her hand tighter. "We can redeem that name. We can prove that he is better than the man he was named after. Please, keep the tradition alive."
She sighed and looked at her child. He was pudgy and soft, with tan skin, fiery hair and bright yellow eyes. He stared back up at her with innocence in his eyes and she smiled. "I know he will be a great leader." She closed her eyes. "Very well. Ganondorf will be his name." She stood while holding her child close and walked out of the room and into the entrance of her throne room, showing everyone the new heir. "Long live Ganondorf."
Everyone cheered happily as she showed her son to the rest of the people. She smiled and kissed his cheek happily. "Things will be different this time, I know it will..."
