Nadia sat in her room in silence, watching the sun rise over the desert. She sighed, waiting for someone to allow her out of her room. She held her letter tightly in her hands, mixed emotions filling her head. She gently placed her letter down on her desk and pulled out another piece of paper, starting to write once more.
"Dear Uncle Rilen,
I know I don't write to you as much as I write to mother and father, you must be wondering about how I'm doing. To be completely honest...I don't know how I'm doing. I like Gerudo a lot, it's a beautiful place and it's always warm during the day and cool at night, with many beautiful animals and interesting people, but I'm rarely able to enjoy any of it alone. I always have someone watching over my shoulder, and even though I'm never actually alone, I'm starting to feel lonely. I miss you and my parents a lot, and I hope I get to see you soon. When we get together, we have to go hunting together with father. I miss being able to hunt. I haven't been able to use my bow at all since I got here and I feel like if I don't shoot a training dummy soon, I'll lose all of my hunting skills completely. While it has been rather lonely, Ganondorf has been good company. He tries really hard to make the place feel like home, but I don't know if it ever will. I love everything about this place, don't get me wrong, but I can never enjoy it myself. Just last night I was reprimanded for going out to speak with the Sheikah in their small camp in the desert alone. I was told that I could not leave my room until the morning and if I acted out again, I would be sent home. I suppose telling Urdania 'no' didn't help the situation. I love you very much Uncle Rilen, and I miss you so much. Please give my horse lots of love for me and tell mother and father that I love them too.
Love,
Nadia"
Nadia finished the letter and quickly sealed it, sniffling and wiping tears off of her face. A knock on her door caused her to jump. "C-Come in!" She stood up and quickly wrote Rilen's name on the envelope before fixing her dress.
Urdania opened the door and walked in, closing the door behind her. "Nadia, may I speak with you?"
Nadia looked away. "Well, seeing where the word 'no' got me yesterday, I can only say yes."
Urdania frowned. "Nadia, please listen to me." She placed her hands on Nadia's shoulders. "I know I have been harsh and restricting, but it's all for a reason. If something were to happen to you, I don't know what I would do. I would never forgive myself for being so careless." She stroked Nadia's cheek. "The desert here is very dangerous when you don't know it." She sat down on Nadia's bed and patted the spot next to her, having Nadia sit by her side. "The desert is very unforgiving to people who hadn't grown up in it. I have heard of travelers getting lost time and time again and dying of starvation or thirst. Even fellow Gerudo get lost in the vastness of it all. I get worried when you go in it, even with Ganondorf because even he does not know all of the desert like some of the others." She took a deep breath. "I don't mean to hurt you or punish you by having you be watched over and stay here, I just worry for your safety and this is the safest place you can be. At least until I have faith that you can fend for yourself out there."
Nadia nodded. "I understand..."
Urdania stroked her hair. "If you wish to return to Hyrule for some time, then I understand. You must be getting restless. Or perhaps I can have the guards start training you?"
Nadia looked up at her. "I can start using the training grounds?"
"If you take your training with the Gerudo guards seriously, then yes." She said. "But it is not a place for you to mess around."
"I understand." Nadia said eagerly. "I promise I will take everything seriously."
"I knew you would say that." Urdania smiled. "Very well, I will have my guards start training you as soon as possible. As for your letters, I will be taking you out to the stables and showing you the route we take so you may take them out yourself whenever you please, but only after you memorised the route. Understand?"
