It had been a week since Arizona officially announced her crusade, the Pacific was now in turmoil as both American and Japanese Fog ships began their Civil War; with the Ghost Fleet being at the center of it all.
The situation became unbearable with the hunt for the I-417 by the Japanese Fog.
"So.. can someone remind me why are we in the Atlantic Ocean now?" the Weapons Officer asked while arranging the torpedoes and missiles.
The Propulsions Officer lets out a sigh on the comm, "War at the Pacific. Bounty on Izumi. Curious of whats happening on the other side. There you have it."
Hiyou laughed nervously at the simple explanation by Misa.
The I-417 is currently in the depths of the Atlantic Ocean, given the task to try and scout what was going on meanwhile the Pacific was chaotic. The said submarine was now in silent run for a very peculiar reason, to which what Zenji would be asking next.
"Why can't we just move around like usual? This trip is taking way too long."
The XO puts up two fingers between his eyes and puts up ship illustrations on the screen.
"What was the most dangerous weapon ever put to use on the Atlantic Battle?"
"The German U-Boats..?"
"That's your answer, Chief. There are enemy submarines.. perhaps thousands out there as we speak."
The mental model of the submarine was in a state of focus, listening in to her sonar. Even the smallest signature she could pick up, it'll be their only lead of avoiding U-Boat Wolfpacks.
It was impossible for a single submarine to take on a Wolfpack that may consist of more than 3 U-Boats with better performance than a Japanese submarine.
The plan was to sneak into the English Channel and if possible find out the conditions in Britain and the other countries through the naval bases. Key ports were at London, Hamburg, St. Petersburg and if possible reach out towards the port up North nearby Murmansk and Archangel.
There was a slight problem with this plan, the amount of ships guarding the English Channel is absurd even for a checkpoint. There was no way to pass through without being detected on Sonar.
Hiyou has been processing all kinds of solution and is still trying to find the best way to complete the mission.
Just as they were settling down, Izumi instantly magnifies the TacMap showing a red dot nearby their position. 7,000 yards to their starboard side.
"Identify the vessel."
Haruhiko types down on his console and drags the information to the main screen.
A Type IX-class U-Boat. A relatively successful U-Boat compared to it's previous predecessors; the Type VII-class U-Boat.
"It still hasn't detected us. We can engage it or leave it in case her pack is nearby."
"Turn bearing, get away as far as possible. Then change course back to our original destination."
"Change bearing, aye."
The crews of the I-417 leaves the U-Boat back, a crucial decision that could benefit or bring them disaster.

After hours of maneuvers and course changes, the I-417 finally reaches the English Channel.
"Can't believe we made it." the relief came from the Weapons Officer.
"Multiple thanatonium signatures ahead. At least a hundred U-Boats are patrolling the area. Surface ships are also present.. 50 destroyers in total, along with light cruisers and a handful of battleships."
