Arpeggio of Blue Steel: Butterfly Effect - A Maiden Voyage and the First Encounter
• Yokosuka Port, aboard the I-417 •
The lights inside the bridge turned on and awoken the sleeping lad, he looked up and saw a girl staring at him.
"Huh?"
"Good morning, My Captain." she had light blue hair tied in a ponytail style and sea green colored eyes.
Hiyou sat up properly on the chair and gazed at her, "Wait... you're Izumi?"
She nodded and took a seat on the platform beside the Captain's chair, brushing a lock of her hair behind her ear.
"What you're seeing right now is a mental model."
"A what-?"
"Mental model... it's a body made using nano-materials by us, the Fog to infiltrate and understand human by culture and knowledge. Basically... it's our subconscious that allows concepts to be used, such as the concept emotion." Izumi explained briefly about mental models.
Hiyou took a moment to process the explanation and stared at the submarine's mental model, she wore a simple blue sundress with a pair of beach sandals.
"You can't really differentiate one from a real human being." he was amazed of how variable nano-material can be turned into.
"Except for the speech patterns... slight problems with emotions and certain slang word understanding. We mental model still depend on others to learn."
The entire ship shuddered for a mere seconds before slowly diving into the water, the monitor projected their current location and pin-pointed checkpoints towards their next destination.
"Akigun-Etajima? Why are we heading for Hiroshima?" the lad inquired, wondering what was in Hiroshima.
Izumi glanced at her Captain and zoomed into the map of Hiroshima, showing several sites holding supplies of nano-material stored by the government from the sinkings of Fog destroyers in the Great Battle.
"During the war... Fog destroyers were allotted victims to human firepower. These miniscule sized ships did not possess any Klein Field so they fell victim to missiles and torpedoes. The Fleet of Fog won in strength... but in terms of tactical and strategy, they lost considerably. The nano-materials ejected by the destroyers are collected and stored here by the Japanese government in hope that one day they could find a use for them."
The I-417 slowly exits the port using a secret passage through the defensive walls, as soon as the walls were out of sight the thrusters on the submarine unleashed more energy and pushed the vessel up to a speed of 60 knots.
"I will explain the rest on the way there... please remain in your seat, My Captain."
Hiyou leaned back on his seat and listened to Izumi's explanation while the ship steered by itself through terrains underwater.
Etajima, Hiroshima - 2 Hours Later
The I-417 surfaces and docks on Etajima's open port, the submarine's main hatch opened and blue hexagonal steps reached to the ground allowing a path for the Captain.
"I've never been to Etajima before... I'm sure it looks different compared to how it used to be in the past." Hiyou disembarks from his ship and scans the port.
Izumi jumped down and locked the hatches and system of the submarine, she stood beside the lad and guided him to the storage facility.
"Izumi, have you ever... talked or chatted with humans before?"
