Avery Hayes had a simple, yet content life living with her mother in Tempe, Arizona. Although her life was hectic as she juggled her senior year of high school, a loving boyfriend, a job and a sick mother, she managed to maintain good grades and a positive attitude. Other than the fact that her father hadn't been in her life more than a card on her birthday and the signature on a check to pay for her schooling, and her mother was ill with cancer, Avery had nothing to complain about. She held a 4.0 GPA along with a personality and the looks that most girls would kill for.
It was just a normal day in her life when she was given something to complain about though. . . Tragedy strikes and Avery is left without any choice but to move to San Diego where her father lives with his new girlfriend and her son.
Immediately upon her arrival at her new home, Avery puts up a front, not allowing herself to go through the massive pain she's had to deal with all in the past week again. She's done letting the hurt overtake her life.
