Chapter 7
Skylar
Tessa. Of course it was about Tessa. What did I expect? Him to confess his secret, undying love for me? Ha. No. I saw them kissing in the hallway this morning...It was stupid of me to think this would be about anything else.
"Okay. What about?" I took a deep breath in attempt to suppress all the emotion coursing through my system at this exact moment.
"How do I put this gently?" He asked thoughtfully. "Well. She can be very...forward."
"Um definitely," I scoffed. "Why, did she do something?"
"Oh, she didn't tell you? She said she was going to tell you," He furrowed his eyebrows and pursed his lips.
It stung a bit to know that she didn't even care to tell me minute by minute plays of anything anymore. That used to be our thing. Even though it might sting more to listen to how happy she was with Anthony, I rather go through that then be isolated from my own best friend. I wanted her to be happy, I really did. I just needed to get over this thing with Anthony first.
"Nope. I haven't spoken to her since yesterday," I shook my head, mentally preparing myself for whatever was about to come.
"Okay so this morning, I asked her out on a date, right? Some things were said and now I think she's convinced we're going to Disney World," He sighed, looking distraught and worried.
"Ha," I harshly laughed. "Good luck with that. She's wanted to go there ever since her idol got married at Cinderella's Castle on national television."
"Married!?" His eyes widened. "Oh god," He put a hand to his forehead. "What do I do?"
"You can try letting her down easy?" I suggested. I honestly didn't know what to do. Tessa and I have generally wanted the same things ever since we were kids- I've never really had to disagree with her before. I guess that explains why we both like Anthony now.
"I don't want to disappoint her though," He frowned and looked at the floor. I sighed, looking at how distraught he was. I suppose he really did care about her. I needed to let my feelings go; or at least not let them affect my decisions anymore.
"I guess you're going to Disney World then," I laughed. He looked up at me with fear in his eyes. "Okay okay. Sorry. Look, you can just tell her that you can't afford it. She'll understand, trust me."
"Are you sure she won't get upset?" He asked skeptically.
"Yes. She's not a spoiled bitch. It'll be fine," I reassured and sighed. She was the exact opposite of that actually, and she deserved to be happy.
"Okay. Thanks," He smiled, getting up. "This was really helpful."
"T-That's all you wanted to talk about?" I hastily said, getting out of my chair.
"Yeah," He nodded.
"Oh. Okay," I muttered, trying to hide my disappointment.
"W-Well," He spoke again and I couldn't help but look up at him with the tiniest bit of excitement in my eyes. "Okay it's stupid. But I think we should hang out more. You know, get to know each other better?"
