Chapter 16

Skylar

"Okay. I have the popcorn and all the rest: the nuts, caramel, chocolate, pretzels, you name it. All of the good stuff ma girl," Hunter placed the various bowls and plates down on the ottoman in front of us before plopping down on the couch next to me. He wrapped an arm around my shoulders and kissed the top of my forehead.

"Great! And I narrowed it down to three movies. We've got, the classic rom com," I clicked some buttons on the remote and chose the movie titled The Notebook. " Or we can watch the Titanic. Oh! Or the new Star Wars movie that just came out, The Last Jedi."

"Hm, what about Star Wars?" Hunter asked with hopeful eyes.

"Yay! I was hoping you'd chose that one," I smiled and quickly clicked the OK button.

"And you call me the nerd? Geez, you practically drown yourself in anything Star Wars related," He playfully rolled his eyes and shoved some popcorn into his mouth.

"At least I don't keep it a secret," I challenged.

"What? And I do?" He scoffed.

"You have a hidden shrine to Luke Skywalker and Han Solo in your closet!" I laughed.

"And what do you call the Kylo Ren and Darth Vader posters hidden behind your mirror!? If I didn't know any better, I'd say that's a pretty hidden shrine too!"

"Hey," I pouted and threw a handful of popcorn at his face. "They aren't behind my mirror, they're behind my bookshelf. Get it right."

"Oh sorry. Forgive me," He put his hands up in defense but stuck his tongue out at me at the same time.

"Hm. Maybe I'll forgive you if you, I don't know, kiss me?" I pretended to think about it before he smiled and leaned in. We've only kissed a few times before since I asked him to take it slow, only because I knew his reputation, and I didn't want to do something I'd regret.

These past few weeks, I've been trying to get to know Hunter better and to be honest, he's actually an amazing guy. He's really shown effort that he's trying to change his playboy ways, and I really appreciated it. He was walking proof that people can truly change if you give them a chance.

I realized I needed to cool it with the Anthony stuff. After the basketball game, and how jealous Tessa got, it made it clear that I cannot have any feelings for him whatsoever. I mean, I'm still working on it, it's not like my feelings can just disappear, but I definitely have been trying to focus on Hunter more.

After about an hour of Rey and Luke, I got up and brushed my jeans off.

"I think I'll go to the bathroom," I said as Hunter reached over to pause the movie.

"Alright," He smiled and shoved his hand in his pocket to retrieve his phone. "Oh, but you should use the one upstairs. My parents are having the one down here remodeled, so it's pretty messy. You know where it is, right?"

"Yep," I nodded before skipping away and up the stairs. As I reached the landing, I heard voices coming from a room I assumed to be Anthony's. I've never been, of course, but given it was his voice, I just took a wild a guess. It was wrong to eavesdrop, but I couldn't stop myself. Slowly, I creeped through the hall and stood behind a wall. His door was open a crack, but neither he nor Tessa were paying attention.
