*Alex POV*
Oh oo woah ohh oo woah baby baby I'll look after you and oh oo woah oh oo woah baby baby I'll look after you and I'll look after you.
Ellie and I sat on the bus listening to the fray on her iPod. Personally, this wasn't my type of music. I love hardcore rock from the 80's and occasionally listened to the 60's and 50's music whenever I felt like it. The song I share with Ellie, the song that helped Ellie and I see passed our differences, the song that gave us the special connections we needed.
Elvis Can't help falling in love.
Yeah I know one of the most common songs in the world that couples have formed deep connections to. For some reason this song created a whole new view when I looked at Ellie. I didn't see her as a perfectionist. I didn't see her as someone who wanted it their way always.
When the song played I seen passed her 'everything has to be perfect' attitude. I seen a girl that just wanted a way out. Out of the responsibility of cooking and cleaning while, trying to keep her grades up. I seen a girl helplessly trying to figure out How to stay independent and never ask for help or for someone to example something to her. Out of all those characteristics that would have normally scared me off I seen a girl that didn't know that she was beautiful inside and out. From her crazy curly hair she used to keep tied up. From her pale complexion with with light colored eyes. To the red lip stick that seemed to match her hair perfectly and finally her skinny yet thick figure. She was truly perfect I just wish I realized soon enough.
For the three minutes and after that I knew I had to have her. She just had to be mine. I had to be able to look at her and say yup she is mine that girl is mine. For the first time for the three minutes that song played I knew she seen passed my reckless and careless ways. My heartless actions when it came to loving a girl for more than an hour or so.
Ellies head leaned against the window as the reflection of the city lights sparkled in her eyes. Her face lit up with joy and happiness looking at the buildings and people we passed. She examined everything from the taxis that passed by, the skyscrapers, the trees and even the homeless cats on the street skinny enough you could see their bones. Yet, still able to dodge any vehicle that comes speeding down their way.
I listened to Ellie hum the ending of look after you from the fray. The song finished and she pulled the earphones out of her ear looking at me she asked "Where are we going?"
I was stuck for a moment. I wanted to tell her but I also felt like being evil and not allowing her to know anything leaving her to wonder and God she hated when I did that. I always found it funny when she'd hate me for about 30 seconds. For those 30 seconds she'd try to give me hell but eventually will give up letting me know that she didn't hate me anymore with her smile that said fuck you but also said I love you at the same time.
"You'll see when we get there." I stated smirking afterwards. She sunk into her seat and smiled. "Fine." she said putting the earphones back in her ear.
Once again for 30 seconds she was silent not one peep not one squeak and I could barely hear her breathe. But, once those 30 seconds were up she turned to me and smile. I returned the smile and turned away.
When we got off the bus I grabbed her hand and ran across the sidewalks of Manhattan drifting passed anyone in our way. Running across the street where a thousand car drivers honked their horns at us for running across at a green light. Ellie yelled out a sarcastic sorry to the drivers who had just rolled down their windows sticking up the middle finger. Then, me being my immature ass yelled back "Well why don't you stick that finger right up your ass!"
Ellie giggled behind me but, once we saw one of the car doors open and a man way passed my height step out of the vehicle Ellies laughter soon ceased and so did mine. As the guy walked towards us I grabbed Ellie's hand gripping it as tight as I could and ran with her.
We ran into central park as the guy ran after us. Running through the park for what felt like hours only happened for a few minutes. We stopped running once we were underneath a bridge. Trying to catch her breath Ellie turned to me and said "You think we lost him?"
I looked back from where where we came from. "Yeah we lost him." I forced out breathing in and out.
"You a fucking ass" Ellie blurted out pointing her finger at me.
Once I caught my breath I walked closer to her pushing her back up against the wall. She looked up at me with big eyes wondering why was I doing this. Finally, my lips fell to other hers and her hands rested on my chest as I grabbed her waist. Pulling away I grabbed Ellie's hand and we walked for hours in the park talking, joking, and laughing.
We sat on the Parks pond gazing at the water as it reflect the night sky so perfectly. Watching the turtles peek up and hide once spotted. Then we walked around again until we found a playground with tire swings. I sat in first and she followed we swung as fast as we could until we both got equally dizzy and couldn't walk straight.
Then, our walking came to an end when we found it. The tree we climbed together. The tree we carved our names in as a reminder of what we are for us to never lose that spark.
I began walking towards it but, Ellie just stood standing in front of it and studied the features. She smiled and eventually caught up with me. We sat underneath the tree her head on my shoulder, our hands locked and for a while it was quiet until I asked for her iPod. Ellie had Nothing to hide from me she never got defensive when I asked her for anything like that she just handed it over because she knew I would never go through her stuff.
I scrolled down her list of Elvis songs. Jesus she had so many mainly because of me. Finally, I stopped scrolling and clicked on our song. Her head popped up when I got up. Standing in front of her I held out my hand and the earphones. She took the earphones shoving them in her ear and gave me her famous fuck you but I love that you did this smile. Grabbing my hand I lifted her up. Once she was standing I pulled her close to me. She wrapped her arms around my neck like shes done plenty of times before and my arms wrapped around her waist like they have plenty of times before. Her head rested on my shoulder and soon enough I pushed my head down so it would cover her neck. We danced together for hours to different songs but once again this song gave us a greater connection.
Wise men say only fools rush in but I can't help falling in love with you. Take my hand take my whole life too but I can't help falling in love with you.
