Marie Cousins P.O.V
It was the first day of freshman year of high school. I wish summer hadn't ended, even though I had a rough one. I stepped out of the car, and waved goodbye to my mother. I jogged towards the school, and a certain kid caught my eye. He was short, and a women was bent down to his level talking in his ear. I placed my earbuds in my ears, and listened to the song "All Summer Long" by Kid Rock. That's the only song I've been listening to lately. It makes me think of summer. And the summer fling I had had with a boy named Codey Haynes. Long story short, that ended because he had to move away, and the whole long distance thing wasn't going to work out. Man do I miss that boy. We had a lot of fun together. He was so funny, so cute. He was perfect. But now he's moved on. I should move on too.Already he has a new girlfriend. I fought back tears that were threatening to spill, and changed the song on my playlist of something that didn't remind me of Codey. I settled on "Girls Chase Boys" by Ingrid Michaelson. It's like I have a song for every situation that I'm in. Once I got in the doors, I was literally staring at my map, my mind so deep into in, that I accidentally bumped into someone.
"Sorry." I said.
"It's okay." The dude I bumped into replied.
"I'm Marie Cousins by the way."
"I'm George, but everyone calls me Georgie."
"Well it's nice to meet you Georgie. I have to get to class now. Maybe I'll see you around."
"I hope so." He said quickly, but then turned and sped walked away to his group of friends.
I jogged down the stairs, and went to my first class.
There was still ten minutes until class starts, so not everyone was here yet. There was only me, some other chick, and the short boy I saw this morning. The weird thing is, he doesn't look my age. Strange. I looked at the name tag on the desk beside me, to see who I was sitting with. It read "George Cooper Jr". Oh great. That extremely cute guy who I bumped into this morning is sitting beside me. Great this isn't going to be awkward at all. Suddenly, all the classmates piled in, and I could spot Georgie in the crowd. He came down the aisle, and saw his name tag on the desk. I just looked down at the ground, as he sat down beside me.
"Long time no see huh Marie?" I heard Georgie say, as I zoned back into reality.
"Oh um yeah kinda." I managed to get out, my mind lost in the sight of his eyes.
I got my books out, along with my creative writing book, AKA where I talk about my feelings. Georgie was looking away, so I opened it up. I hadn't written in this thing since Codey Haynes and I broke it off. I almost started crying again, so I closed the book fast.
"What's in there?" Georgie asked, who was suddenly looking my way again.
"Oh just some writing."
"Oh cool."
It's not cool, it's full of the feelings I can't express any other way because I don't know if people will understand.I shook the thought out of my head, and looked up at the front as the teacher was speaking.
"Excuse me?" The short boy said while putting his hand up.
"Yes Sheldon?" The teacher asked.
So his name is Sheldon.
Sheldon spoke so fast, something about dress codes, and that he could see a girls bra. Everyone was laughing except Georgie, who was face palming.
"Oh! Also you are breaking the dress code rules as well!" Sheldon said to the teacher.
"Oh how so?"
"You're growing a moustache."
Okay this time I lost it. I was in a fit of laughter, but Georgie still had his hand on his forehead.
"Oh Man." Georgie said.
"Hahahaha what?" I asked.
"Nothing." He said, crossing his arms.
"Georgie?"
"He's my little brother. He's nine years old, he skipped a whole bunch of grades because he's smart."
"I'm sure you are too."
"Tell my mom that."
"Oh?"
