I push open the door of Southside High and see Jughead and Toni sitting on the steps. "Hey, guys. Whatcha talking about?" I sit down next to Toni.
"Jughead's new typewriter." Toni says with a smile on her face.
"Oh, the one Betty got him? He spent all break playing with that thing." I say.
"Thanks." Jughead says and rolls his eyes.
"Nice necklace, Stevie." Toni says as she eyes it.
Suddenly the doors behind us bust open. "Whoo!" Sweet Pea and Fangs yell and students come flooding out from behind them.
"What's going on?" Jughead asks and stands up.
"This hellhole is officially closed. We're done! No more Southside High!" Sweet Pea says excitedly.
"What? How?" Toni asks.
"They say it's dangerous and it's gonna be quarantined. Who cares? We're all going to different school." Sweet Pea says.
"Wait, this doesn't make sense. Where are you guys going?" Jughead asks.
"Same as you and you," He points down and Toni and I, "And Fangs. We're going to Riverdale High." I glance up a Jughead for a moment and we both share the same expression of worry. "Think of all those Northside heads to knock." Sweet Pea and Fangs pretend fight for a second.
Just before they walk away Sweet Pea winks at me.
After everyone has cleared Toni turns to me, "Did Sweet Pea just wink at you?"
"What? No!" I insist.
"Then what do you call what he just did?" She raises her eyebrow.
"Blinking?" I stand up. "Well, I'm out of here. I'll see you guys later." I walk down the step and around the corner.
Someone grabs my arm and pulls me behind a tall bush and for a moment I think it's that Ghoulie until the person starts kissing me and I realize it's Sweet Pea. I push myself off of him. "You can't do that, you scared the hell out of me." He smirks at me. "Seriously, give me a warning next time. And you can't wink at me in public, Toni saw."
"What are you scared that people are gonna find out that we're not dating?" He asks sarcastically.
"Look, I just don't want this blow out of proportion, okay? This doesn't mean anything, we're just having fun and I still hate you." I say.
"I know, the feeling is mutual. Now, shut up. It's hard to kiss you when you're talking." He pulls my face into his and kisses me hard.
Jughead and I push through the familiar double doors of Riverdale High and walk through the hallway followed by Southside kids. In the middle of the hallway a table is set up and standing behind it is Veronica, Archie, Kevin and Josie.
