After Adelaide left, my mom asked us to leave so she could clean up "peacefully" and then sent us to the supermarket.

"Would you kill me if I said I didn't like her?" Luke asked when we got there.

"Who? Adelaide?" I questioned. Luke was walking too fast for me to follow him around with the cart and I ended up almost running over a couple of kids.

"Yeah, I don't like the way she's giving you high hopes", he frowned.

"What do you mean?" I hadn't expected that Luke would actually dislike her, he was not the kind of person who would just judge people before actually having a conversation with them, and Adelaide was not the kind of person someone could just dislike. At least that's what I thought.

"I mean, she's being all cute and shit with you during class, she is actually kind of flirty even though she has a boyfriend", he was counting with his fingers to emphasize his point, I guessed. "She comes to your house, sleeps there, and then asks you not to tell anyone about it to 'keep you from trouble'", he said making imaginary quote marks with his fingers.

"She's not flirty, she's just trying to make everything less awkward", I defended her. "And she didn't fall asleep on purpose", I added.

"How can you be so sure about that?" He stopped walking and looked me right in the eyes.

"I don't know, I just -" know her. I thought. But I certainly didn't, we had basically met just a week ago - because Ashton's party didn't count. I honestly couldn't be sure about anything that had to do with her.

"You just what?" Luke questioned.

"I think that I'm not even sure if I like her in that way, hence I don't think it's necessary to analyze it so much", I shrugged.

"Right, but she doesn't know that, and she probably believes that you do have a thing for her, since she was your first and all that," Luke explained. "Plus you're constantly gazing at her, it's annoying".

"But we've barely talked, she wouldn't just assume that, would she?" Luke didn't say anything and I started to get frustrated. "How am I supossed to know what she thinks?" I groaned.

"See, you don't even know the girl! For all you know, she could be a complete bitch, maybe she wasn't even a virgin when you guys did it, maybe she just-", Luke shook his head, "I don't know, man". He was getting really mad about this and I was just getting mote and more upset.

"I don't think she was lying about that", I said. "But yeah, I get your point".

Luke nodded. "I'm so wise" he added and I assumed the conversation was over.

We took everything that was on the list my mom had given us, payed and then left.

On our way home, I couldn't stop thinking about what Luke had said, but I also told myself not to overthink it so much, I had to figure out what my feelings for her were first, and I couldn't do that after knowing her for just a week. I knew that I liked being around her and that I did feel something weird whenever she smiled at me, but it was way too soon to come to a conclusion.

We entered my house and threw ourselves on the living room sofas, both of us too exhausted due to the extremely huge effort going to the supermarket takes. I took my phone out of my pocket and saw that I had a message from Adelaide. She probably saved herself while she had it because I didn't recall asking for her number.

"I got a message from Adelaide", I coughed out and Luke looked at me with wide eyes.

"Don't open it", he shook his head quickly.

"Why not?" I asked confused.

"You need to play hard to get if you want her to like you back", Luke shrugged.

"What if it's something important?" I insisted.

"Then she'll call", he simply said.

I looked from him to my phone repeatedly until I decided to unlock it.

"Calum, don't", Luke grunted.

"I'm sorry, I need to see it".

"No, you don't!" Luke stood up from the couch and basically jumped on me, trying to take the phone from my hands.

"Get off, Hemmings!" I groaned. He kept fighting for it until he was able to grab it.

"Sorry, mate" he said quickly before flinging my phone out the window.

"Luke, what the fuck?" I jogged to my backyard and found my phone completely shattered. "You're gonna have to buy me a new one, you idiot!" I snarled.

"What?" His head poked out the window. "Did I actually break it?" He chuckled.

"Why are you laughing!" I threw a piece of what used to be my phone at him and it landed on his nose.

"Hey! I know you're jelaous of my face but you don't have to try and ruin it!" He complained.

I wanted to stay mad at him. He had just broken my phone. But his stupidity made me smile. "Why am I even friends with you", I shook my head.

"Because I'm pretty", he scoffed.

"How am I supossed to know what the message said now?" I sighed.

"You'll just have to wait 'till tomorrow. It was probably just a 'hi', Calum. You need to act like you don't care sometimes, or she'll get bored", Luke pointed out.

"I'm not trying to get a girl here, Lucas, I'm trying to start a friendship, or sort of", I rolled my eyes.

"Or sort of", he repeated. "That little phrase changes everything".

"No it doesn't", I scoffed.

"Yes it does. Now stop whining about it and let's do something productive". Which in Luke's world meant playing FIFA all day. And that's what we did.
