It was Wednesday already and Adelaide hadn't spoke to me since Sunday, when she left my place. I thought that maybe she was mad at me, but she had no reason to and it wouldn't have made any sense. I remembered the text she'd sent me on Sunday, before Luke broke my phone, and thought that maybe it had something to do with why she wasn't talking to me, but I had no way to find out, and I didn't find the right time to go talk to her either.
I almost crash with her walking through the halls at least twice and she didn't even look at me. I saw her in class too, but she would avoid my eyes the whole time, until I eventually gave up. I was absolutely confused, I was pretty sure I hadn't done anything wrong.
On Thursday, I had lunch with Luke and a few seniors, I was extremely uncomfortable at first, but then I started talking to this guy who seemed like a complete asshole at first but it turned out as a really nice human being.
"You guys wanna come to my house later tonight?" Michael, the kid I'd just met, said. "Beers, music, just chill".
"Yeah, that'd be cool!" Luke gushed.
"On a school night?" I asked slightly confused.
"Yeah, why not? It's not like we're gonna get drunk or anything. Unless you want to", Ashton chuckled.
"C'mon, Calum. Don't be so boring", Luke rolled his eyes.
"I didn't even say that I didn't want to go, I was just asking", I shrugged.
"You're coming then?" Michael asked.
"Yeah, I guess I am", I nodded my head slowly.
"Awesome!" Ashton beamed.
After that, we went back to class, and when we were almost there I saw Adelaide talking to Michael.
"They know each other?" I asked Luke.
"I don't know, apparently", he shrugged.
"You think she'll be there tonight?" I questioned nervously.
"Nah, it's probably going to be just us", he assured me.
The next two periods were complete agony, we did like two hundred problems during maths and I could barely keep my eyes open during chemistry. Luke actually feel asleep on my shoulder for about twenty minutes, and didn't wake up until the teacher snapped his fingers in front of his face.
I was absolutely exhausted after school, and I didn't feel like going to Michael's house, but went anyways thinking it'd be kind of an opportunity to meet some more people. When we arrived, a few guys were already there, including Ashton, and some girls were talking loudly at a table.
"I thought this was like a boys night", Luke said to Michael.
"You want me to kick them out? 'Cause I can do that", he shot back.
"No, no, no. I was just saying", Luke shook his head and grinned at him.
"That's what I thought", Michael nodded.
I went in the kitchen and took a beer from a table. I wasn't sure what to do, Luke was already talking to a girl, Ashton had disappeared and I didn't know anybody else. I ended up talking with Michael.
"Calum", he said when he saw me walking towards him.
"This is a pretty nice house", I said.
"You're friends with Adelaide, aren't you?" He questioned ignoring my previous comment.
"Uh, I guess", I shrugged.
Michael laughed. "It's cool, I already know what happened".
"What are you talking about?" I said laughing awkwardly.
