"Class", our english teacher, Mr. Langdon, started. "I was thinking about your next test, and I've decided you're not doing it".
The class started to cheer, but stopped when Mr. Langdon smirked and let out a short laugh.
"But", he continued, gaining groans from everybody. "You'll have to do something much better, you're going to write something". Nobody said a thing for a while and Mr. Langdon rolled his eyes. "In pairs", he finished.
The whole class started yelling at each other and, after a few minutes, everyone had a partner. I just looked at Luke and he nodded.
"Hemmings, who are you working with?" The teacher had asked everyone in the room, leaving me and Luke at last.
"Hood", Luke answered and the teacher snorted.
"Oh no, you're not working with your best mate". I think he was trying to sound australian with that to annoy us but it didn't work at all. "You'll work with Benson".
"Who the hell is Benson?" Luke muttered to me.
"I don't know", I shrugged.
"Excuse me, but I don't know who that is, sir", Luke chuckled.
"You'll get to know her with this project, kid", he winked, and Luke wrinkled his nose, clearly disgusted by it. "Adelaide, you're okay with this, right?" He then said.
"Oh", Luke and I said at the same time.
"Yeah sure", she said quietly. She turned around and sent Luke and me an awkward grin.
"I'm sorry, mate", Luke gave me an apologizing look and I just laughed.
"It's fine, as long as you don't try anything", I shrugged.
"I won't", he scowled. "But who are you working with then?
"Right, didn't think about that", I nodded. "Um, Mr. Langdon? I don't have a partner now".
He rolled his eyes. "You're working with Natalie Forbes, of course, she was Adelaide's partner".
"Oh, okay." I said quietly, the girl that was sitting right next to Adelaide turned around now, and waved at me with a thin smile, I just nodded at her, her eyes were scaring me a little.
"What are we supposed to write about?" A guy in the other side of the room asked.
"I want you to write about what you're feeling right now, how you've been feeling lately, I want you to be honest". He paused and then sighed. "And I really hope you take this project as an opportunity to express youselves, to speak out. Oh, and you have a week", he added. The bell rang and the teacher quickly left the room.
Luke sighed nodding his head. "God, I thought it was going to be for tomorrow and I was already preparing an excuse, I hate writing. Do you know if Adelaide likes to write, because I wouldn't mind paying her, actua-"
"I do like it", Adelaide showed up in front of our desks, interrupting Luke. "And no, you won't pay me. We're doing it together, I'm not gonna be the only one writing down my emotions, Luke", she chuckled.
"What about if I pay you twenty dollars?" Luke grinned.
"Nah", she shook her head.
"How about fifty?" Luke begged and I laughed at his desperation.
She shook her head again. "Nope".
"Aw, c'mon, Adelaide! It'd make everything better for both of us", he pouted.
"The answer's no, Luke", she laughed. "We're writing it together", she stated.
"Fine", Luke groaned.
