When I finally stopped talking and looked at Mark I couldn't help but chuckle, he was looking at me with his mouth wide open.
- Better close your mouth or else you might eat a fly. I said with a small smile.
- Well that wouldn't be a problem compared to what happened to you, pal.
- I know. So?
- So what? He looked at me with his usual four-years old look. God, was he slow or what?
- Are you coming with me or not? I said and at that moment I wanted to hit myself for asking him something that stupid. Why would he come to an adventure that he would surely be killed?
- Of course I am coming. There's no way I am going to loose my buddy and all the fun. He said smiling. I seriously wanted to have a mirror right now so that I could see my face when I heard it. Mark was laughing so much that he nearlt fell to the ground, he said it was hilarious and I shrugged when I spoke again I tried to be serious and not show my annoyance.
- Alright then, tonight we're leaving.
- I will be ready. Well better enjoy your last hours living in a castle... Prince Max. He said with a smirk.
- Stop making fun of it, you know I don't enjoy it. I complained, I felt like my title was above me at times like these.
- As you wish... your highness. He said with a teasing smile.
- Say it again and the next thing you'll be doing is greeting your ancestors in heaven! I warned him and left, my patience ended the moment he would go on like that just to annoy me. I hated when people who were close to me called "Prince Max" or "your highness". For them I wanted to be just Max.
After a few hours later, the sun fell and I went to the main hall to say goodbye to my father. I knew I had to be cold and serious, without showing any kind of emotion. When I opened the door I was surprised from my father. He was smiling and he was talking with a voice which wasn't cold at all. When I moved my look to the person he was talking I felt strange. It was someone with a black cape. I couldn't see his face too. He was surely shorter than me. When they finally felt that I was also here my father came and did something I couldn't forget no matter how hard I tried. He hugged me!!! I thought I was in the wrong room with the wrong king and in the wrong castle. I was more than sure that my father had to be drunk or ill in order to do that. When he spoke I looked at him ready for anything.
- Max. I wish you good luck my son. Ah yes!!! Take this friend of mine with you. He heard about what happened and he wants to help. He said and showed me the man with the cape.
- Nice to meet you. I said and gave him my hand. He didn't response but he gave me his hand. After that little conversation we finally began our journey. We passed the borders of my kingdom and went straight for the kingdom of Cedrilciona. It was a very tough journey. When we stopped near a river I went to speak to the man with the cape. He had said nothing since we left.
- Hey, do you need something? My answer was a shake of his head which meant "no" then I went up ahead, Mark came closer and punched me lightly. When I looked at him he was staring our co-traveller so intensly I thought he would kill him and he did that for more than an hour.
- I have a strange feeling about him. I'm not sure we can trust him. Mark finally said and honestly he was the last person I believed I would hear that. He trusted almost anyone for pretty much anything!
- We will see if we can trust him or not but for now we shall keep our distance. I said when I suddenly heard a noise that made me draw my sword. And I was right, a moment later three strange and disgusting creatures appeared. They were tall, far taller than a man and their skin was a deep sickening green colour, they also had huge eyes that seemed ready to leave the rest of their skull, they were a bright red, almost like the colour of blood and their teeth were similar to that of a wolf only that they were ten times bigger. I gazed back at Mark who had done the same as I did... but the man with the cape was just standing there... why?
