That evening, I wake up before Uriah, so I head over to the headquarters, where I see a crowd of grey gathered. Abnegation runaways. I approach the crowd, where Johanna is speaking with them.
"Ahh, here she is. Miss Dalton, these people were sent from Beatrice Prior's father, as well as Marcus Eaton." Johanna explains, and my eyes widen. Tris and Tobias!
"Where are Tris and Tobias?" I ask eagerly, as I see no black in this group of grey.
"They're still in the city, but they're not far behind. Marcus and Andrew sent us, telling us they had to wait for Beatrice. Andrew, Marcus, and Caleb stayed behind." One girl speaks up, and I nod. There are approximately eight of them.
"Miss Dalton, please take them to your bunkhouse. I'm sure your friends will arrive soon." Johanna says, and I nod solemnly. I lead the small group of people to the bunkhouse only a couple buildings away, and I make sure to keep the set of bunks beside Uriah and I reserved for Tobias and Tris. Uriah is up by this time, and he looks at me questioningly.
"Who are they?"
"Abnegation runaways. Tris and Four's dads sent them. Apparently Tris and Four aren't far behind." I explain, and Uriah nods.
"Johanna said we could go to the cafeteria for food. Would you like to join us?" The same Abnegation girl, the one that talked to me earlier, asks, and Uriah and I nod. We follow further behind the group, as we both don't want to be branded a part of Abnegation. We are both too selfish to be one of them. If we were Abnegation, we would not have run away in the middle of the night.
We arrive at the huge cafeteria, where there are rows upon rows of wooden tables and benches. The Abnegation pick a table away from the Amity, because that must be the selfless thing to do. We follow, and Uriah and I sit across from each other, picking at our food. We both don't know what else to do, we are too wired up to do anything else.
As the Amity begin to clear out, heading for bed, I see two familiar faces at the doorway of the cafeteria. Tobias and Tris. Tris is clutching her arm, and she spots us, leading the group behind her over to us. Tobias takes a seat next to me, and we both engulf each other in a hug. Tris gives Uriah a light hug, and they watch us.
For people that don't know, it would look like Tobias and I are lovers, reuniting for the first time in a long time. We pull away, but stay close to each other. No words are needed at the moment.
The group of Abnegation is huddled around Marcus Eaton, Tobias' father. I look to Tobias, and he just shakes his head.
"Tris, your father, did he not..." I trail off, afraid to hear the answer. She shakes her head, and I grab her hands, squeezing them in my own. "I'm so sorry." I whisper, and hand her a cup of the sleeping antidote. The bags under her eyes make her look like she hasn't slept in weeks.
She looks at me questioningly, so I explain.
"Sleep stuff developed by Erudite. Helps you sleep without dreams, just knocks you right out. Or so I've heard. I'm not risking it with a baby." I tell her, and she downs the cup instantly. She slowly begins to get droopy, and just as Tobias is about to take her, Uriah offers, because he knows where our bunkhouse is. Uriah and Tris disappear from sight, leaving Tobias and I alone. I glance down the table, and I see a boy that looks similar to Tris sitting next to the girl who has been talking to me all day, representing her group of Abnegation.
"That's Tris' brother Caleb. He's talking to Susan, his love interest from Abnegation." Tobias chuckles, and I smile.
"What happened in the attack? Did Eric..." I ask him, but I come up short for words. I'm not exactly sure what to ask, whether he murdered all of Abnegation, or whether he's alive and well.
"He's alive. And by the looks of it, the old him is gone. He looked like hell, Tris even shot him." Tobias says, and I look to him for further explanation. "Eric and Max had Tris and I pinned with guns, as we did them, so Eric pissed her off and she shot him. Max shot her in the shoulder as we ran, but other than that, he's fine. The attack never finished. Tris and I stopped the sim, so only minimal casualties. I don't know how many Divergent are dead though." Tobias explains everything to me, and I nod a couple times, trying to swallow all that information.
"Does Eric know about me?" I ask, referring to my Divergence.
"We never personally told him, but I think he put two and two together and figured that's why you disappeared the night before the attack. He tried to interrogate me after they caught us again, but I kept my mouth shut. He was furious, so he kicked me in the side, and he gave me a good cut to the jaw. Got some good bruising going on." Tobias chuckles, and I hug him again.
"Thank you, Tobias." I whisper, and he nods. "I'm sorry you had to go through all that."
"I'm not. You're safe, and that's why I did this. And for Tris. Both of you are safe, so I wouldn't have it any other way." Tobias says, and I nod.
"C'mon, we should head to bed, Johanna and Amity may kick us out tomorrow, so we should be rested up." I tell him, and we leave the table we were sharing with Abnegation, without a word to anyone.
We walk silently, just content that we are all together again.
"You think they'll let us stay?" I ask him, and he continues looking to the ground as we walk. He doesn't answer for a few moments.
"They would be stupid to, but when have the Amity ever been classified as smart?"
And the whole gang is now in Amity! Now that the war has wrapped up, how long will it be until Eric finds them?? Will the baby be born?
What do you lovelies think, boy or girl?? Arielle does think it's a girl, but she never officially found out, yet....
