"Uriah... oh god..." I say, knowing exactly what is going on. My baby is coming.
"Fuck! C'mon Arielle, we have to run!" Uriah says, pulling us up from under the table. I hold my stomach, and we take a few steps before Uriah is pulling me to the ground, and Tris is pushing a man to the ground. The Erudite woman just about killed one of us.
"Put the gun down! I have very good aim, and I'm betting that you don't." Tobias says darkly, and she drops her gun without any hesitation. Tobias picks up her gun, and we walk out, with Tobias guarding the Erudite woman. When we are all out, the door is slammed shut between us and we start running. Before I even take a few paces, a contraction hits me again, making me scream and fall to the ground.
"Arielle!" Tris, Tobias, and Uriah all say at the same time.
"She's coming! I can't go anywhere! This baby is coming!" I cry through my teeth, trying my best to block out the pain. All three of them look to each other, and another contraction hits me, making me scream. "All of you go! Go while you still have time!" I tell them, and they are all stuck, unsure of what to do. "I'm just having contractions, this baby won't be here for a little bit. Someone will find me, and I'll be fine. Just go! You all need to get out of here, quickly!" I tell them, and they shake their heads.
"One of us has to stay with you." Tobias says, and his eyes are full of hurt. He doesn't want to leave me, his little sister, alone, to deliver her baby or even die.
"I'll stay. You got me to protect her in the first place, so let me. I'll stay with her." Uriah insists, and Tobias nods.
"No! They'll kill you, Uriah! Eric will, please, you can't stay! You're not safe with me!" I tell him, and he shakes his head.
"I am going to be here when this baby is born, whether you like it or not." Uriah says, and he hugs Tris and Tobias goodbye. Tris hugs me lightly, and I smile gratefully at her. Tobias engulfs me in a hug, and I hold him tightly. I don't want to let go.
"Be careful, Tobias. This baby is going to need her uncle." I tell him, and he pulls out of the hug. He has tears in his eyes, and mine are already running. "Eric won't let anything happen to her, she'll be safe. I can't say for myself, but this baby will be safe." I tell him, and he shakes his head.
"Don't talk like that. This baby can't grow up without her mother. You'll be okay. I'll see you soon, okay?" Tobias says, and I nod, vigorously wiping my tears away. He kisses my forehead, and with that, Tris, Tobias, and the others disappear into the night. Another contraction hits me, and I manage to muffle my screams by biting my lip. This baby doesn't like to wait.
"Uriah, you have to take me out to Eric, c'mon, help me." I tell him, and he nods reluctantly. We both could be walking to our deaths, but I'm going to hope Eric will give us mercy.
We make it to the hallway doors, and when we open them, there are three guns pointed at us, as well a set of car headlights.
Before long though, the guns are lowered and I am pulled from Uriah's grasp.
"Uriah!" I yell, and I fight weakly against the arms holding me in place. Uriah is shoved to his knees, and a gun is pointed to the back of his head. His eyes meet mine sadly, as if to say 'I'm sorry.' "NO!" I scream. "It wasn't his fault! I begged him to help me escape! He's innocent! Please, no!" I yell through my sobs. The person holding the gun is watching my capturer, meaning it must be Eric. Now that I take notice, his hands feel familiar, but colder and harder than usual.
"Cuff him. We won't kill him yet. Jeanine might have some plans for him." Eric says, from behind me, and with that, he roughly begins dragging me away. And with perfect time, another contraction hits, making me double over in pain, groaning. "The baby isn't due yet..." Eric says irritably.
