"Uriah! Stop!"
My body freezes, and I look up to the source of the voice. A tall brown-haired man with stormy brown eyes stares back at me, shocking and angering me all at the same time.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing? You're drunk, and you're going to kill yourself if you keep it up." Four asks quickly.
"Why the fuck are you here? Don't you have some important leadership shit or something?" I spit back, wiping the blood from my nose.
"No. I saw what happened in the hall." Four states, making me roll my eyes.
"What-the-fuck-ever."
"You know what? Why don't you grow the hell up, own up, and talk to them? They'll listen." Four tells me, and, just for a moment, my torso feels warm and my heart picks up speed, but then I scoff and turn back to the punching bag.
"Bullshit. You may know Arielle, but you don't know Elizabeth." I seethe, and I resume my assault. For some reason, the punches hurt me way more than they did before Four showed up. What the fuck?
I don't hear Four approach me, and it surprises the hell out of me when he shoves me off the punching bag, making me stumble and look at him incredulously.
"What the fuck do you want, Four? Leave me the hell alone." I grumble, and move to the next punching bag away from Four.
"I can't leave you here, Uriah, you know that." Four tells me, almost gently, like he's speaking to a child.
"Yes you can. You can walk right back out that door, Four. I don't need a fucking babysitter."
"Then I'll go get Zeke. What do you think he'll do? You think he'll be as nice as I am now?" Four challenges, and I whip around, pointing my index finger towards him.
"Don't you fucking dare bring Zeke into this. He doesn't fucking get it and he never will." I threaten, and Four rolls his eyes.
"Then explain it to him. Or me. Or Arielle. Or Elizabeth. Or whoever. But whatever this is, you need to talk about it, or face it. You're Dauntless, Uriah." Four reminds me, and I sigh.
"I sure don't feel like it." I mutter, dropping my head in defeat. Four's hand rests on my shoulder, and I resist the urge to flinch, as my shoulders are screaming.
"You are. And you need to talk to Elizabeth and Arielle. I meant what I said. They will listen to you. You just need to get them away from Eric to do it." Four tells me, and I nod. I turn to face him, and I see his eyes watching me carefully, gauging my current mental and physical state.
"Can you help me? Find something you would need Eric for, and pull him away or something." I ask him, hoping he can help me as it was his plan in the first place.
"Yeah, for sure. I'll ask him to come to my office this evening after supper okay?" Four asks, and I nod again. "Okay. Good luck then, Uriah. I'll see you around." Four bids me a farewell, and he leaves me alone in the initiate training area.
I glance down to my knuckles, and I decide I should probably shower before I see them tonight.
***Eric's POV***
"I gotta go baby." I whisper, kissing Arielle's head, which is currently resting on my shoulder. Our naked limbs are tangled, making me all the more reluctant to leave. We may not be able to have sex yet, because of the baby, but damn this woman can do wondrous things with her mouth. Plus, sleeping naked together is a sort of habit for us.
"Okay, but don't be long. You know I don't sleep well without you." Arielle reminds me, and her words are followed by a yawn. I smile at her, and watch fondly as she curls into my vacated spot, her eyes fluttering shut.
"Sure you don't." I whisper like the smart ass I am, knowing she can't hear me. I pull on a pair of black jeans and a black t-shirt, leaving the bedroom and closing the door quietly. I walk out to the living room where Elizabeth and Aria are playing with Jenevieve, as all of them like to stay up later, including my baby. I walk over to the girls, as they are seated on the floor surrounded by baby toys, and I kiss my baby girl's head. She squeals in delight, reaching for me.
I know I have to go, but Four can wait a few extra minutes. I pick Jenevieve up, and even though she's drooling on me, she seems to be the happiest baby ever.
"Daddy has to go, Eve. Stay here with Aunty Ellie and Aunty Aria. Daddy will be home soon." I tell her, and with one more kiss on her head, i put her back down with the girls, and before Jen can cry for me, the girls put some toys in front of her as a distraction, the thought of me leaving her mind. "I'll see you later, girls." I tell my sisters, and I grab my black leather jacket and my black sneakers, exiting the apartment.
I begin the walk to Four's office, and this nagging feeling sets itself deep in my gut, and the feeling gets bigger and bigger as I get farther from my girls. I'm not planning on being away long, so I decide to ignore it. I make it to Four's office, and I knock on the door, opening it. Four is seated behind his desk, surrounded by papers. He looks up at me and nods.
"Thanks for coming on short notice. Shouldn't be long, I know you have the girls to get back to." Four states, and I nod courteously.
"What did you need me for anyways?" I ask him, not entirely sure why he would seek me out of all people.
"I need you to look at this map we have of the Erudite headquarters building and confirm or correct everything." Four explains, handing me a couple large rolls of paper.
"Why me? I'm sure you have lots of other Dauntless spies you could ask to do this, that you trust more than me." I ask skeptically. Something isn't adding up. Four never seeks me out for anything.
"Could you just do it for me please? I figured you would be able to do it on the shortest amount of notice." Four tells me. His eyes don't meet mine, and he seems to be very involved in writing on a few papers on his desk.
"I feel like there's something you're not telling me, Four." I pry once more, and Four looks up at me in slight annoyance.
"Are you going to help me or not? If it's such an issue for you, I'll find someone else." Four replies, and my eyebrows shoot up. I guess he's not going to spill...
"You got me here, I might as well get started." I mutter, and take a seat at a small table in the corner of Four's office.
That nagging feeling is still eating at me, and another instinct is telling me Four has something to do with it.
What the hell could it be?
An update! Woohoo! I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays! Have a good day/night lovelies!
