 Recap:

Both of us are stuck in the trance of bliss and wonder for a few moments, before Eric lies down beside me, peppering my skin with little butterfly kisses.

"I love you, Arielle, so much." Eric whispers. I move my head and body to lie atop his, where I find to be the most comfortable place.

"I love you Eric, to the moon and back."

And as I lay in our bed, I remind myself, reluctantly and with a heavy heart, that this could very well be my last night in Eric's arms.

The last thing I hear is the steady pace of Eric's heart beat beneath my head.

Now:

At 1:40am, I carefully remove myself from Eric's arms, for, quite possibly, the last time. I write him a small note beside our bed, saying that I love him, but I left Dauntless because I didn't want the baby to be apart of this upcoming war. He is going to be so hurt and so furious; but the real stinger will be when discovers my true intentions for running, to protect my Divergence and our baby. I am basically taking his child from him, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

I grab the backpack full of clothes out of my closet, the one I packed this morning while Eric was out, and tiptoe out of the bedroom and out of the apartment. I walk through the halls that made me the person I am today. Dauntless made me stronger, happier, and gave me a sense of purpose in life; Dauntless even gave me the love of my life. Oh, Eric.

I try to walk quietly, and I think I succeed because anyone I see down a corridor, or a ways away, doesn't look to me. I make sure to follow the mental map in my head of the path around all the Dauntless cameras, so no one knows where I could have gone.

I make it to the tracks right for 2am, and Tobias, Tris, and Uriah are already there.

"Hey guys." I mutter.

"Arielle, this is for the best, okay?" Tris whispers, and I nod. She pulls me into a hug, and I hold her tight. She is almost like a sister to me, besides Blake. Oh, poor Blake. I didn't even get to say goodbye to her.

"Come on, the train will be passing in less than a minute." Tobias says, and as soon as Tris steps back, Tobias hugs me. I wrap my arms around his neck, holding him even tighter than I did Tris. This man is like my brother, my twin brother. I feel like he is my other half sometimes.

"You'll be okay. Uriah will look out for you, as you will for him. I'm going to miss you Elle." Tobias says, his voice cracking.

"I love you, Tobias. I'll see you soon, this isn't goodbye." I tell him as we pull away.

"This isn't goodbye. Love you Elle." Tobias repeats, and with that, the train arrives, so Uriah and I begin running.

We jump in the third car, and I peek back at Tobias and Tris, who are watching us disappear from their sights.

"We'll see them soon, Ari." Uriah says, and I nod, pushing back the overwhelming pain in my heart.

Next stop: Amity.

Uriah and I took turns sleeping on the train, only for an hour each time, because we weren't sure when we would reach the end of the tracks. Unfortunately, we reach it during my sleep period. After Uriah jostles me awake, we make short work of getting off the train. As soon as our boots hit the ground, I take notice of the landscape. It's just flatland, with shrubs and grass everywhere, and the odd tree. The sun has just finished rising above the horizon, even though it is still low and early in the morning.
