***Uriah's POV***
"That's the last of it son, go catch up with those girls, they looked lie they need you." Harrison says, and I smile, nodding.
Ever since I met Arielle, I knew she was going to be like a sister to me, and sure enough, she is. I'll lay down my life to protect her, even if I'm a year younger and hate her boyfriend's guts.
Yes, I've hated Eric since day one, mostly because he was an asshole to my brother, Four, Arielle, and Tris. He may have given Arielle a baby and love, but, to me, once an asshole, always an asshole. Eric has done a pretty good job living up to that motto if you ask me. I guess whatever Arielle sees in Eric is up to them, even if I don't agree with it.
The one good thing Eric has done for me is bring three amazing people into my life: Elizabeth, Aria, and Jenevieve. If Eric never worked his way into Arielle's life, I would have never met Elizabeth or Aria, and Jenevieve would have never been here. Damn, maybe I owe more credit to Eric than I thought.
No, wait, scratch that. I owe the asshole nothing. I had to put Arielle back together when I left with her, and he's been hurting her for a long fucking time. Eric hid the war from Arielle, he never acted like a father, he left Arielle alone with me in Erudite with Jen, and he's even hit her twice. Yeah, I know about that. She didn't have to tell me, I saw it all over Eric's face any time he looked at the bruise. Eric may have been the reason I met some of the most important in my life, but I'll never excuse what he did to Arielle. He tore her apart, and I can't stand to see it again.
I do my best to dodge the paint-balling Dauntless, but, unfortunately, I run out of luck as two hit me in the ribs. It doesn't hurt, but man do they ever splatter. I finally get out of the 'war zone', and begin making my way towards Arielle and Eric's apartment. That was where they were heading when they left me with Harrison.
I finally make it to their door, and open it without a second thought. And when I walk in, red blinds my vision as I see Eric and Arielle in each other's arms.
Without a second thought, I lunge for Eric's throat.***Arielle's POV***
"I love you so much." Eric whispers in my ear, and he kisses my temple. His breath on my skin creates a fire, which is soon replaced by goosebumps. The sensation is chaotic, but when has anything about us ever not been chaotic?
"I love-"
Before I get a chance to finish, the door opens, and Uriah stands in the doorway. My throat dries and my brain goes blank as Uriah's face morphs into one of rage and fury. Eric and I are just about to speak when Uriah lunges for Eric, tackling him. Unfortunately, they land on the coffee table, which shatters under the weight of the two men.
Uriah's hands are firmly clasped around my boyfriend's throat, and, despite Eric being stronger than Uriah any other day, he can't overpower the anger flooding Uriah's veins.
"Uriah! Let him go! Let me explain!" I scream at him. I can knock Uriah out with a solid swing to the temple if I needed to, but I can't hurt him unless I absolutely have to.
"He tore you apart, Arielle! This son of a bitch!" Uriah seethes, and Eric's face is deepening in color with every passed second. I have to do something now, before Eric passes out. And before I could even respond, another voice screeches at Uriah.
"URIAH! NO!" Elizabeth's cries alert Uriah immediately, and as soon as he sees her tear-stained face, his body flies off of Eric. Instead of punching Uriah, which I would love to do, I kneel beside Eric, making sure he can breathe again. He is choking on the air, and clutching his throat.
"Eric, baby, I'm here." My shaken state gets the best of me, as my voice cracks and shakes as I speak.
"Fuck..." I barely hear it, but I know Eric said it. He sits up, glass falling off of his jacket, and I help him stand.
"Are you okay?" I ask him quietly, holding a deathly grip on his arms. Eric nods, but I'm not convinced. I help him sit down on the couch, despite him assuring me, with a cracked, raspy voice, that he's okay. As soon as I know he's okay sitting on the couch, I turn just in time to see Elizabeth slapping Uriah across the face. Her face no longer looks terrified, but enraged. Uriah glances back at her, holding the side of his face.
"Liz, please, let me-"
"Get out! Leave me alone!" She yells at him, and with that, he steps away from her, and, without a glance our way, leaves the apartment.
Elizabeth watches him leave, and she runs to the two of us as soon as he is out of sight. I open my arms for her, and she practically falls into my arms, crying. My heart breaks for her, as I can't imagine what is going through her head right now. Poor girl.
"Are y-you o-okay?" She sobs, looking to Eric through her wet lashes.
"I'm fine, Princess." Eric replies in a sandy-like voice, which pro ones Elizabeth to move from my arms to his.
"Why would he do that to you? You did nothing wrong." Elizabeth cries, and Eric's eyes immediately find mine. We both know what he has done wrong, and how much he has done wrong, but that we're trying to work past it as best as we can. It will take a long time before we're okay, but we're trying.
"Uriah wasn't in the wrong, Princess. I am, and have been for too damn long."Hello my lovelies. I know you all deserve an explanation, and I'm absolutely, completely, utterly sorry for making you wait months. The school year was coming to an end for me after I posted the last chapter, and I needed to keep my marks high as I was in my last year of high school. And then I started playing rugby, and that plus work left no time for anything else except school. And then the graduation season came, and that was complete craziness. After I graduated, I seemed to struggle in bouncing back into my writing. Any time I looked at this story, I couldn't figure out what to do with it, I had severe writer's block. I tried writing in my other stories, but that didn't help in the least. I would get a sentence down and then not know what to do with it. But, tonight, I finally found an inspiration, and got a chapter completed for all you wonderful people. It may not be my best work, but it's only fair that I give you something after being a jerk and a ghost for almost four months.
Again, I am so sorry to all of you for my absence, and I will try my absolute best to make up for it with more chapter, and hopefully a completed story. Thank you to all of you lovelies, all of you are the reason I continue to write! xoxo
