Missing In Action 8
Chapter 8
*The Next Morning*
I got up early, As any other day. I checked on Eleanor, who was asleep in bed. I got dressed in my nurse uniform.
I walked to a bakery. I scanned the sweets.
"See anything, you like miss?" The lady asked.
"Can I get one of those bagels and a orange juice?" I asked.
"Sure. Coming right up." She smiled. I sat there on one of the couches they had. I looked at the TV they had in there. The news was on, talking about the war. I looked at little coffee table they had. The newspapers read 'World War 3 At Its Highest'. The door to the bakery opened. I looked. Military men walked in. Everywhere I looked it reminded me of war. This was the life we were living in now. And I realized, I can't help the fact that the baby will be born in world full of hate and destruction.
"Excuse me miss, your order is ready." The lady said.
I tried to stand up, but my belly wouldn't let me.
"Here, let me help you." I heard one of the military men said.
Two of them helped me up.
"Thank you, so much." I said as they helped me up.
"No problem, miss." They said.
I took my bagel and orange juice. I paid for them.
I walked out of the bakery. As I got closer to the clinic. I had a weird feeling. A feeling that something wasn't right.
I walked into the clinic. I looked at my watch. It said 7:30. I looked outside it was cloudy.
I walked into my station. The new recruit nurse where already there.
"Hello ladies." I said taking off my jacket.
"Hello." They answered sweetly.
"I hope you've had a good nights sleep, because we have a lot of work ahead of us today." I said.
I cleared my throat.
"So ladies, to start out, everything you need for today is on tray. Make sure utensils are washed and sanitized." I said.
The girls nodded and did what they were told.
I walked over to Mark who was up already.
"How's it feel being to boss people around?" He teased.
"Whatever." I smiled.
I changed his bandage.
"Ok ready for walking today?" I asked.
"Definitely." He said getting out of bed.
After an hour of Therapy, I decided to give Mark a break.
"Ok, you can rest for a little but, Im gonna go check on the recruits." I said.
I walked around looking at the the recruits work.
"Make sure to keep the bandage tight, but not to tight. We don't want his leg to turn blue." I informed.
The girl nodded.
I walked to another recruit.
"How are you liking your nurse?" I asked the patient.
"She's wonderful." He said smiling at her. She smiled back and blushed.
