Missing In Action 33
*Next Day*
I woke up to a loud knock on the front door. I looked at my clock. 4:30 am.
I sighed turning over in bed. The knock was louder.
I groaned and got up. I walked downstairs. I turned on the lights, blinding myself a bit.
I walked to the front door. I opened it.
A guards stood at the door.
"Yes." I said drowsily.
"I'm sorry to wake you up so early miss." He said.
"Oh its fine." I said. "Can I help you with anything?" I asked.
"I was told to go door to door to tell everyone that the soldiers will be back home here in London at 12:00 this afternoon." He said.
"Really?" I asked happily.
He nodded.
"That was fast." I said.
"The parliament knows how long you ladies have waited...they don't want you to any longer." He said.
"Thank you so much." I said.
"You have a nice night." He said.
"You too." I said.
He walked away and I closed the door.
I smiled to myself Josh is finally coming home and without any inconvenience. Anna will be so happy.
"Mummy..." I heard.
I turned around. Faith stood at the bottom of the stairs in her night gown, holding her bear.
"What's wrong, Angel?" I asked walking over to her.
"Who was at the door?" She asked.
"A man..." I said.
"Who?" She asked.
I chuckled. "Your asking a lot of questions lately." I said picking her up.
"The man told us...that Josh is coming back." I said.
"Oh..." She said.
"Lets go back to bed." I said walking up the stairs.
She laid her head on my shoulder.
"You wanna sleep in my bed?" I asked.
She nodded.
I smiled and kissed the top of her head.
*Hours Later*
I was up before everyone else. Or so I thought. I walked down the stairs to the living room. Danielle sat on the couch.
"Hey." I said.
"Hey, sorry did I wake you?" She asked.
"No, it's okay." I smiled.
"So, a man came and knocked on the door at 4:30 and he told me that the troops are coming back today at 12:00..." I said.
"Really?!...Anna will be so happy." She smiled.
There was a silence.
"The boys would have been back today..." She said.
"Yeah....."
There was another silence.
"God I miss them." I said.
"The thing is...I feel like I really didn't give Liam a really good goodbye....I don't remember me telling him that I loved him." She said.
"I'm sure you did...I know you did." I said.
"I know I keep telling myself that...but in my head, I keep thinking that I didn't." She said.
"I know he knew how much you loved him." I said.
"I hope so." She said.
Later on the girls woke up. I told them about the man that told me about the troops coming back. Of course Anna was excited to see Josh again.
When it got close to 12:00, We all stood in front of the living room window. Waiting. Waiting to see the Military trucks drive in. I saw people standing outside their houses, families waiting.
"Come on, lets wait outside." I said.
We all stood in the front doorway. The streets were quiet in anticipation for the trucks to drive up at any minute.
We saw one truck roll in. We held our breaths. Another one drove in. Then another.
As soon as the soldiers came piling out, everyone started cheering. Signs were held saying 'Welcome Back'.
Mothers met their sons. Sisters met their brothers. Wives met their husbands.
The street was filled with people crying with happiness.
"Do you see him?" Anna asked us, as she tried looking over the crowd.
"No, not yet." Sky said.
Anna anxiously stood there. 5 minutes have passed and no sign of Josh.
I could tell Anna was getting worried.
"What if something went wrong?" Anna asked looking at us.
"I'm sure everything's fine." Danielle said.
From the crowd I saw a familiar face walk toward the house. It was Josh. He stopped 10 feet away from us. He stood there in his military green uniform and held his Green duffle bag.
"Anna." I said.
She looked at me. I pointed to Josh's direction. Anna turned around. Her eyes opened wide.
"Josh!" She yelled running to him.
He smiled and dropped his duffle bag.
They hugged each other. After what seemed like forever they pulled apart.
I could tell Anna was crying. Josh wiped her tears and was telling her something.
He kissed her passionately.
I felt a tear fall from my eyes.
"Are you crying Perrie?" Danielle asked.
"Yeah. So?" I chuckled, wiping the tear away from my cheek.
"Come here." Ness said hugging me.
Us girls did a group hug. We pulled away.
"We made it through the war girls." Sky said.
"Glad that its over." I said.
Anna and Josh walked up to the house.
"Josh it's so good to see you." Danielle said hugging him. He hugged back.
"It's good to be back." He said.
We all hugged him.
"Welcome back." I smiled.
"Thank you." He said smiling and holding Anna's hand.
"Mum, we'll be back. Josh has to go see his mum." Anna said.
"Okay...tell them all we said hello." Danielle said.
