Missing In Action 16
*Couple Days Later*
I was walking around in the food store with Faith in the cart.
I was walking down the cereal aisle and faith was talking. Of course baby talk.
I smiled as she went on and on.
Suddenly she stopped talking. I looked at her. Her attention was turned behind me.
I turned around. I saw someone quickly hid behind the corner. I quickly turned around and walked away.
When I finished shopping, I went back to the house.
*Couple Days Later*
A blizzard rolled in of nowhere. The loud, howling wind outside could be heard inside. The sound made Faith scared.
I sat up from the couch and walked to Faiths crib. I picked her up and cradled her.
"Shh. It's okay." I whispered.
Danielle came in making the fire in the fireplace bigger, so it would make the house warmer.
"It's freezing." Sky shivered, curled up on the couch next to Ness.
"What do you think I'm doing." Danielle chuckled.
I walked over to the window and opened the curtains. The wind blew the snow making it almost impossible to see outside.
I looked more out the window. Through the white snow, I could see a faith black shadow. A persons shadow. I immediately thought it would be one of the guards. I looked closely. The person sat on a bench with their arms crossed over their chest. The person only had pants, sneakers and a light black sweater on. As I looked closer. I noticed the person stood up from the bench. As the person started treading through the shin high snow, I saw the person fall. I felt bad. I watched waiting for the person to get up. They never got up. The person laid there in the snow.
"Oh my god." I said quickly walking over to Sky and Ness.
"Hold her." I said giving Faith to Sky.
I quickly ran outside with no jacket on.
"Perrie!" The girls called after me.
I ignored. My mind was sent on helping the person laying in the snow.
I quickly treaded through the snow, falling a couple times to get to the person. The snow was so cold, the type you could feel to your bones.
When I got to them, I turned the person over. It looked like a girl. I pushed her hair out of her face. It was the girl that we helped out a few days ago. She was past out. I knew I had to get her out of this blizzard. If she stays asleep to long in the cold her brain can shut down and she could die.
I quickly put her arm over my shoulder. I tried to carry her back. And again falling in the snow myself a few times, but I quickly got up and carried her again. I finally got to the house. Danielle stood at the door.
"Oh my god!" She said helping me bring the girl in the warm house.
The girls helped me bring her over to the fire place.
"Quick we need to get a blanket." Sky said.
Ness quickly got a quilt and put it over the girl.
I grabbed a towel and dried her hair that got wet from the snow.
"Isn't this the girl we helped?" Ness asked.
I nodded.
"She was out there only wearing this?" Danielle asked holding up the thin sweater.
"She's lucky she's not dead." Sky said.
"Lets take her upstairs." I said.
We took her up stairs to Danielle's room. We waited in the room for her to wake up.
After a couple hours, the girl began to wake up.
"Mom!" She yelled.
"Mom!" Said now crying.
I sat on the side of the bed.
"Shh...it's okay, your okay." I said with my arms wrapped around her. She cried and surprisingly she hugged me back.
"Where am I?" She asked with tears running down her face.
"Your safe in a warm house...are you hungry Hun?" Ness asked.
The girl nodded shyly.
Ness walked out the room.
And came back with food. She Held the food up to the girl. The girl hesitated to take some.
"Go on...take some. We have plenty." Ness said.
The girl reached for the piece of bread. She took it and tore a piece off. She put it in her mouth. She looked at us, then back at the bread. She started to eat the bread as if she hasn't had it in years.
"What's your name?" Sky asked.
The girl swallowed the piece of bread she was chewing.
"Anna." She answered.
"What were you doing on the bench out in the blizzard?" I asked.
"I live there." She said.
"What?" Ness asked.
"You mean...you don't have a home?" Danielle asked.
She nodded.
"How old are you, love?" I asked.
"15...and a half...if that counts." She said moving onto the next food on the plate.
"Where's your mum?" Sky asked.
"Gone..." She gulped.
"Oh I'm so sorry...." I said.
She just nodded.
"Will you excuse us..." I said getting off the bed.
I signaled the girls to walk out into the hallway with me.
"We've got to take her in..." I said.
"I agree.." Danielle said.
"Same here." Ness and Sky said in unison.
We walked back to the room.
Danielle sat on the bed.
"Would you like to stay with us?" Danielle asked.
"Y-you mean it?!" The girl asked with hope in her eyes.
"Yes of course." Sky chuckled.
"Thank you-thank you!" She said hugging Danielle. Danielle chuckled and hugged back.
