"Honey, we're moving to Australia," my mom told me with hesitation. I almost spit out my drink after hearing the words leave her mouth.
"What?!" I exclaimed. "You said Arizona was the last time!" I was absolutely furious. We constantly move around the world because of my dad's job in the army. I guess the term "military brat" would fit for my brother and I, who happened to be silent at the time.
"I'm finally comfortable with who I am and actually have good friends here! Why again?" I question.
"We know sweetie, but you know with my job we have to relocate occasionally", my dad said, trying to ease my anger.
"OCCASIONALLY?! That's bullshit," I yelled at my parents. I stood up abruptly, slamming my chair into the table and running upstairs into my room.
My dad is the creator of a military program used by military leaders for planning missions or plans for war, but him and one other person are currently the only two genius enough to even operate the system. Normally this would be really cool, but we are constantly moving around the world. I've lived in London, France, Chicago, Oregon, and now Arizona. At first I was okay with it because I got to see incredible things around the world, meet new people and try some crazy new things, but after the move to Oregon I got tired of constantly unpacking boxes just to have them later packed up again and starting over.
I laid on my bed and stared up at my ceiling fan. Remembering I found my earphones earlier in the day, I got up and grabbed them off my desk. Picking "Kashmir" by Led Zepplin from my songs, I grabbed my guitar and started strumming along with the guitarist. Music was the only thing that could calm me down when I was mad or upset, besides volleyball but unfortunately I would have to start at a new club with a new team, leading for me being the new girl once again. Do they even have volleyball in Australia? Dear Lord I hope so.
I realized at that moment I would have to leave my two best friends Monica and Kate that I would be moving around the world from them. How was I ever going to tell them?
This is going to be one heck of a move.
