chapter ten
"worlds collide""This is why worlds shouldn't collide"
~
Rachel skipped down her basement stairs, a bowl of chips in her hands, humming the tune of "Hot Patootie" from The Rocky Horror Picture Show under her breath. She wasn't sure how that tune had gotten stuck in her head, but she was sure it something to do with the lyrics "what ever happened to Saturday night?"
Maddie was at the bottom of the stairs, hanging up some string lights from Rachel's Hanukkah decorations. Rachel set the bowl of chips down on the bar and looked at the wall clock to make sure they were still good on time.
Maddie looked over and pursed her lips, noticing the little white bandages that were still on the bridge of Rachel's nose. She walked over to the brunette, and grabbed her hands, which cause Rachel to look at the girl. "Rachie, I thought you said you were gonna take those off!"
Rachel looked down at the ground. "I just don't think I'm ready. The doctor said three weeks and today is three weeks to the day. Tonight is going to be kinda hectic, and I don't know, I guess I just feel safer with them on." She admitted.
"Rachel it's okay, here." Maddie said, pulling Rachel in the bathroom down in the basement. She flicked on the light and positioned herself just behind Rachel in front of the mirror, "ready?" she asked. Rachel looked at the girl and nodded, reaching up and gently pulling the bandage off. "See not so bad!"
"Not so bad." Rachel returned the smile.
Rachel would've stayed looking at herself in the mirror for the next hour if she hadn't heard "Yo Berry!" come from the top of the stairs.
"Down here Puckerman!" she replied and Maddie followed her out of the bathroom.
Maddie squealed with excitement. "Omg! This is the first time I'm meeting one of your old friends from McKinley."
"Please, Noah is hardly a friend," Rachel scoffed, Puck arriving at the bottom of the stairs.
"Yeah, I'm more like an insanely smokin' ex-lover with great arms and a bad boy persona." Puck replied, joking.
Rachel rolled her eyes as Puck pulled her into a hug, "Ex-love, yeah right!" she laughed and broke out of the embrace. "Noah, this is Maddie, Maddie this is Noah." Rachel introduced the two.
"Call me Puck, everyone else does." He remarked as he shook Maddie's hand.
"Nice to meet you Puck. Thanks for bringing the goods." She smiled.
Puck shrugged, pretending to dust something off of his shoulder, "Please, it's no issue for the Puckasaurus."
"What've you got?" Rachel asked, curious to know what kind of contraband he had just brought under her roof.
