Frank's eyes looked glassy from the angle Gerard was at. He was about to knock on the Iero's door, fist totally up in the air and ready for knocking, but he heard muffled yelling from inside.

He looked through the door's window and saw furious actions from Frank's dad, swinging hands, and a permanent scowl. Frank was pouting, hopelessly screaming back and looking at his mother for support. She just looked at him sadly.

Gerard was going to knock, but he frowned, shoved his hands in his pockets and shuffled back down the driveway.

;;;

When Gerard first met Frank, he was five and Frank was three. They just moved in beside the family of two. Frank's mom and him. The little toddler was supposed to be Mikey's friend, but his little legs always took him in the direction of the confused-on-why-there-was-a-little-child-chasing-him-around Gerard. Gerard honestly tried to get rid of him. This little brat was always following him around, screaming his happy little 'Gee!' And making him the laughing stock of his friends down the street.

This happened for years, Gerard hiding inside of his house as Frank rang on the doorbell multiple times a day. Gerard's mom Donna, bless her heart, always gave Gerard a dirty look as he opened up the door and told the devastated five year old that Gerard couldn't play today. Well, until Frank crawled through his window.

Frank was ten at the time and Gerard was twelve. Gerard had just fallen asleep but was awaken to a loud creak and stumbling over a wall. Gerard rushed up, turning on the lamp next to his bed and watched as a shadowy figure climbs off the floor and tries to steady his balance. Gerard totally would've had a breakdown but he noticed the figure was like five foot one so he wasn't really that scared.

"...Frank?"

Frank looks up, light cascading over his face. He gives a small lopsided grin. "Hiya."

So Frank sat down on his bed, look Gerard dead in the eyes and said. "You don't like me, that's it?"

Gerard could've sworn he saw tears in the fifth grader's eyes and he instantly felt shit. It's not that he didn't like Frank, he's just never thought as Frank as a friend. More of an annoying little kid that followed him around.

They talked about it, more or less laughing because hey it was three am and Frank climb through a fucking window. But they hugged, Frank, falling asleep next to Gerard and a very happy Donna the next morning and even offered Gerard TWO stacks of pancakes.

;;;

"I got laid."

Gerard chokes on his gum again, but revives it, chewing fast. Why was he always motherfucking chewing gum at times like this? "Who?"

"Me?" Frank laughed and smiled cheekily at Gerard, sitting underneath the sycamore tree in Gerard's backyard. When they first moved in when Gerard's parents got a divorce. It was rather small twelve years ago, but now it was biggest enough to block the sun and quite frankly, the whole world when Gerard didn't want to be around it. It was blooming because of the late May and the smell of flowers and grass was inspiring to Gerard. He came here to think about senior year and about Frank and to draw. It was relaxing.

Gerard snorted. "I know that part, dumbie. I meant who with?"

Frank snuggled up next to Gerard to see what he was drawing. The typical vampire and his prey. Gerard liked to draw scary, raw things but it made him happy. "Bob Bryar."

"Bob Bryar?" Gerard asked with furrowed eyebrows. Was he gay? He was a total bear then. He was five foot eight, one hundred and seventy pounds of pure muscle. Next, to Frank's skinny, girly figure of five foot four, Bob looked like a fucking monument. "How did he not eat you?"

Frank giggled, slapping Gerard's arm causing him to smile. "Don't be ruuude!"

Gerard sketches with his pencil as he looks Frank dead in the eyes. "How was it?"

Frank moves uncomfortably under Gerard's glare. "It was... Okay? It was weird."

Gerard rejoices in the world and twists his mouth so that he won't smile. He really doesn't understand why he's acting like this because he doesn't like Frank... Right? "How so?" He says cooly, but his pencil snaps. He grabs the sharpener as Frank bites his lip.

"Well, I wasn't in love with him. So that factor was gone. He seemed kinda... Inexperienced." Frank says shyly, but a burst of confidence comes when he says; "But I totally rocked bottom, not gonna lie."

There's no help for Gerard's gum, so he just swallows it. "You're bottom?" He says croaky with a voice crack somewhere in there.

"Hell yeah," Frank says with a big smile. Gerard uncomfortable so he changes the subject.

"How's everything at home?"

Frank's smile turns into a frown. He sighs hopelessly. "Meh, same old, same old."

"Is your dad still giving you a hard time?"

Frank squints his eyes as he goes from under the tree to see if anyone was around. He sits back down. "Yeah, and he doesn't even know I'm gay yet!"

Gerard gives him a concerned look. "Are you ever gonna tell him?"

"Well, it'll be pretty obvious if I run away with a boy."

The seventeen year old blanches. "Fucking what?"

"I hate it here," Frank says, grimacing. "The only good thing around here is you and my mom. And Mikey. I want to run away. I want to fucking find a boy that I love and get the fuck out of here. Away from bullies, teachers, asshole dads. The works."

Gerard knew Frank wasn't being serious. Frank was a big dreamer and told Gerard all about his hopes and wishes and thoughts. Frank just wanted out. Gerard heard things about Frank being picked on at his Catholic school. Gerard went to the public high school four blocks over and he wishes he could protect Frank. He really, really did.

"Would you come back to see me?"

The fifteen year old a weird look. "Of course. I wouldn't leave you alone here in hell."

Gerard snickers and continues his drawing as the lapse in silence. Gerard concentrating on the drops of blood falling from Dracula's victim and Frank still snuggled up to him, watching the clouds.

Frank was fascinated with the sky.
