~Kalen~
I've been sitting in this tree in the human's yard for about 2 days now scouting and watching over the family. I've overheard the mortal girl- the one I saw the first day I came here- talking about the littlest mortals, so far nothing has come up about the Changeling that got left here by accident.
I haven't stopped thinking about her since that time when she chased the little boy outside. The way her golden brown hair shines when the sunlight hits it just right or the way her tan skin glows in the sun. Her sparkling blue-green eyes hidden behind her glasses and the way her face lights up when she smiles.
I was suddenly snap out of my daydream as she comes outside with two of the youngest mortals. I quickly climb higher up into the tree so I won't be seen and listen to their conversation.
"Asher, can we go on the swing?" The oldest girl of the toddler mortals asks.
'Asher. Her name is Asher. It's beautiful.'
"Sure thing Kyla, let's go," she replies smiling.
"Yay!" The one called Kyla replies smiling in delight and clapping her little hands together.
She picks the little mortal up and puts her on her shoulder and walks over to the swing. She places Kyla on it and starts pushing her.
"Asher, can you help me jump please?" The boy mortal that Asher went to get outside that first day asks.
"Yeah, be right there Kaden. One sec Ky, I'll be right back okay," She tells Kyla before going over to Kaden. "You need help getting on the trampoline?"
"Yes, please."
"Okay, up you go," She says picking him up and putting him on the big thing she called a trampoline. The little boy starts jumping up and down while squealing in delight while Asher watched also smiling.
Suddenly we hear a scream and Asher quickly turns around to find Kyla on the ground crying. She rushes over to her and picks her up in an attempt to comfort her.
"Kyla, what happened? Are you okay?" She asks while gently rocking her back and forth and smoothing her hair down.
"Racheal pushed me off da swing," the little girl says crying. This immediately gets my attention and I look around to find the Changeling behind the swing smiling evilly. Kaden's head whips up when he hears the name 'Racheal' and he jumps off the trampoline to run in front of his sister in a protective stance.
'With the way he is shaking you can see how scared he is of the Changeling, even as he glares at it. He only looks to be about 3, but he would still put himself in front of his sister to protect her from something that scares him. Amazing.'
"Kyla, how many times do I have to tell you? You're Racheal."
"No, she's right there look," Kyla replies pointing directly to the changeling. The Changelings evil grin grows even bigger than before. I start to panic.
'What is it doing?! It needs to hide or it will be seen!'
Asher looks to where Kyla pointed but her eyebrows scrunch when a confused look comes onto her face.
"Kyla, there's no one there," She says soothingly still trying to calm the little mortal down. "You just fell off the swing sweetie, nobody pushed you. Okay?"
'Wait why can't she see her? She's right there in plain sight,' I think now confused too.
Kyla looks back but the Changeling was gone, hidden behind a tree and out of site. Kyla immediately relaxes when she doesn't see it.
"Okay, Asher. Can we go inside and watch Paw Patrol?" Kyla replies not crying anymore.
"Yeah, come on," Asher laughs and picks up both twins and puts them on her shoulders.
They go inside and the Changeling follows them still remaining unseen.
'How can Asher have not seen it? It was right there,' I think still very confused on that whole ordeal. 'And why would it purposely hurt the one it was meant to change places with?'
There's only one explanation.
It wants revenge
