Calum walked home from school. It was a gloomy day, it had been raining all day. He had been dreading going home. He never liked being home, so he used to take detours when he walked home. Stopping at random stores and never ended up buying anything. Just for the sake of avoiding going home. His home was not really home, it was just a house filled with paintings and furniture to make it more lively to the outside. Calum has been living for years in this hell. "Guess what?! I hate you too, depressed moran!" his dad screamed back at him. Again he had one of those useless fights with his dad. Calum tried to not let his feelings get to him, he wanted to ignore what his dad just said. "I am leaving, so I can't be a pain anymore" tears were brimming in his eyes. He couldn't help but cry when he walked away. His dad kept hurting him over and over. Calum walked upstairs at a slow pace, trying to see something through his blurry view. He quickly packed some underwear, shirts, socks, jeans and some sanitary products. He ran downstairs again, wanting to get away as quickly as he could. Once at the foyer, he felt a hand slamming against his face. He fell to the ground because of the hard slam. Calum got quickly up ready to face his dad. "What the he-" but then he saw a usual view. An empty bottle of whiskey laying on the ground. His dad was drunk again. His dad got addicted a few years ago and the help that was offered wasn't enough. Calum ran as fast he could to the door and ran out. After a while of running, afraid his dad would come after him, he got tired. Calum started walking at a slower pace to get his breath back to regular. After a while of walking, he found a bench. He was tired of his dad continuously beating him and hurting him. Calum was a nice kid but no one ever saw that.

Far away he saw a boy running, he just looked at the boy in awe. Calum thought he looked beautiful. When Calum stopped staring he realized the boy was standing in front of him, tall and confident. The boy sat down next to him and smiled friendly. "Hiya, how are you holding up?" he asked with a soft voice. Calum looked up at the boy but returned his gaze back to the ground. "I'm fine, thanks" Calum lied and gave Michael a small and weak smile.

Then Michael held his hand out, waiting for it to shook by Calum. "I'm Michael". Calum shot his head back up to Michael and he wasn't sure if he had to shake his hand. "I'm Calum," he said in a small voice. He shook the hand of Michael. "So, what are ya doing here alone," Michael asked looking down at the packed bag. Calum never trusted anyone enough to tell about his fights with his dad. He was scared they would think he was a liar. He didn't know if he should answer Michael. And for a few minutes, he said nothing. "I ran away from home, my dad and I had a fight," Calum said, staring into the distance. "Mate, are you okay?" Michael asked friendly. Calum gave Michael a small but noticeable nod. " I forgot my blanket tho," Calum said. Michael gave him a confused look "what do you need a blanket for." Calum looked at Michael with pain all over his face, "to sleep on benches and not to get cold" Calum said.

The hand of Michael touched Calum's shoulder softly. "May I ask you something really weird?" Michael asked. Calum gave an accepting nod, waiting for Michael to go on. "Maybe you could sleep over at my place?" Michael said with a hint of fear in his voice. Michael wasn't sure if this was such a good idea since he barely knew Calum. As Calum was considering his decision, Michael tapped his finger on the bench. Calum thought to himself that Michael seemed harmless and very sweet. "I think I would like that. I hope I won't be a burden to you." Calum said. "You won't be a burden, you seem nice," Michael smiled. "Shall we?" Michael said, holding out his hand to help Calum up. He took the hand and the bag and started walking the direction Michael walked to. Michael looked at Calum and asked "so, why didn't you go to your friends." On which Calum said, "I don't have any." Neither of the boys knew that there was a great friendship ahead of this little 'let a stranger sleep over at my house' party.

READ PLEASE Authors note:

This sucks a bit. It will get better later in the story, at least I hope it does haha! This is just the beginning of the book and I hope it didn't suck. I hope you liked it. The story will be told in POVs and not in a voice kinda thing. It's kinda weird to start a story different that it will be but it will be good, I promise. Feel free to comment, vote or message me when you ever need someone. I love you all!!

xoxo
