I stood there at a loss for words. A stripper? I guess that's an upgrade from what I'm doing right now. Robert looked at me as if he was waiting for me to answer.
"Are you down?" Namjoon asked. I looked over at Robert waiting for a confirmation from him. He nodded back at me.
"Yes...." I said. Namjoon looked at me smiling.
"Please take a seat" he said. One of his security guards came and put a stack of paper in front of me. "Imma need you to sign a few waiver forms just saying that we are not responsible If you get hurt, blah blah blah.." he said sliding a pen my way. I took the pen and signed. It's official, I went from being a prostitute to a stripper.
*****LATER ON THAT NIGHT*****
I sat inside of my dressing room, tonight will be my first performance. Being a prostitute, i learned to do many things. This isn't the first time that I'd be dancing on the pole for money.
"Girl what you doing?" Cardi said coming in the dressing room. "It's time for you to shake that ass on stage," she says.
"Alright, I'll be out in a minute." Although this isn't my first time working the pole, I'm still really nervous. As more and more time goes by, my heart pounds harder and harder.
"Are you nervous?" Cardi says looking at me. It sounded more like a statement rather than a question.
"Is it that obvious?" Cardi begins to walk toward me.
"Don't be nervous," she says placing her hand on mine. "When you get on stage, don't even look into the crowd, just picture yourself in an empty room dancing. Be confident. Think about the fact that you, yourself alone has so much power above all these men here. You don't even need to speak to them to have them on their knees eating out of your hands. That's how much power you have." She stands up and starts walking out the door. Before she leaves she turns back to me. "Own that stage," and with that, she walks out. I get up and walk out the dressing room. The closer I get to the stage, the louder I hear the music. I look behind the curtain onto the stage.
"Are you ready?" I turn around and see Namjoon.
"No," I said honestly. He looked at me for a long time before speaking up.
"You know what, because this is your first day of work, Imma do this. I can see that your really stressed out so, tonight you dont have to dance on stage. However, you still have to work the floor." I looked him straight in the eye.
"Thank you Namjoon."
"No, problem," he said patting me on the back. "Now remember, no one is allowed to touch you unless you give them permission. If you need help or someones getting too physical, or whatever, there is a bouncer at both ends of the stage as well as one in every corner of the room. If anything goes wrong, let them know, and they'll take care of it. Understand?" he asked.
"Yeah, thanks again."
I walk from back stage through the door onto the main floor.
*****After Work*****
"Thanks for dropping me off at home Namjoon," I said to him getting out the car.
"No need to thank me. I take care of all my employees," he paused for a second. "Can you come back for a minute?" This caught me off gaurd a little bit but I sat back down in his car.
"What's up," I said.
"Can I ask you something? Something personal?"
"Yeah go ahead." He hesitated a bit, choosing his words carefully.
"Why are you working at the club?" I looked at him in surprise.
"What?"
"Well all the girls working at the club work there for a reasin. Cardi works there to pay her sick mother's hospital bill, Amber strips because she's a single mother of twins. All the girls have reason, what's yours?" He asked.
"Well, I didn't really choose to work there," I told him.
"What do you mean?"
"Well it was either stripping, or continuing what I used to do." He looked at me with a face full of curiosity.
"What did you do before?" I feel embarrassed. I look down and start playing around with my fingers. "You know, if you don't feel comfortable you don't have to tell me anything." I turned and faced him.
"I was a prostitute."
"I'm not here to judge you. We all have our reasons as to why we do things, " Namjoon said to me. "Wait, Is that how you met Robert?"
"No, I met Robert when he started dating my mother a-".
"Is Marie your mother?" Namjoon asked interrupting me.
"Sadly yes." He stood quiet for a minute. I cant help but wonder what he's thinking about.
"I'm sorry, I don't mean to be rude but your mother isn't a decent woman," he said. This made me laugh. I started laughing uncontrollably while Namjoon looked at me like I was crazy. I finally gained control of myself.
"Shit, your telling me, why don't you try having her as a mother."
"Is she that bad?"
"Namjoon, you have absolutely no idea whatsoever. Her and Robert are perfect for eachother. They're just as equally bad as the other." I replied.
"If they're bad, then why are you still living with them?" This is the question of the century. The question that everyone wants to know. The same question that I ask myself but can never answer. Why do I stick around?
"I don't know to be honest. I always seem to come back no matter what happens. He now looked at me with a serious face.
"Look, you look like you've been through a lot, and I know that we've only known each other for a day or so, but please, promise me that if you are ever in any danger, you would give me a call. I'm serious." I looked into his eyes. He seems genuine, like he actually cares.
"Thank you, and I will," I say finally getting out of the car. "Bye Namjoon" I said waiving at him.
"See you tomorrow Ashley," and with that he drove off. I walk into my house to see my mother on the couch.
"How was work? " She asked. Her tone was flat. I really don't want to talk to her right now, but I keep it classy.
"It was fine. "
"You know, " she begins to say, "you should be thanking me." She has this smug smirk on her face.
"And whys that?" I asked gritting through my teeth. I really want to shove my foot down her throat.
"Well because of me you no longer have to sell your ass." Is she fucking kidding me? "I was the one who convinced Robert to introduce you to Namjoon. Your welcome. "
"Yeah? You also are the one who made me get into prostitution. What's your point? "
"My point is, you can't ever say that I never did anything for you as a mother. You should be a little bit more grateful." I don't want to keep entertaining her so I just went upstairs and fell asleep.
*****Next night at work*****
"Ashley," Namjoon called. I turned around facing him.
"Yes boss?"
"I don't know what you've done, but it seems likes your popular already, " he says with a big smile on his face.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean there is a person who requested a private dance from you. He even paid two grand, up front." Is he serious? Who the hell would pay that much for a twenty minute dance?
"Alright, I'll get going. Which room is he in?"
"Room four." I turned my heels and walked off. I walked upstairs and down the hall. Reaching room four I slowly opened the door. The room was completely dark.
"Ah! Your here," a voice said. My heart stopped. I know that voice. Could it be? Reaching to my right, I turned the light switch on. Sitting on a chair, in the middle of the room is Mr. Jay Park himself.
