Hands off

The ring

Lauren's POV

I knock on the door while Marcus is standing next to me. Caleb opens the door and it almost looks like he has run a marathon. I hear his father laugh from the kitchen.

''Come in.'' Caleb says. He steps aside and lets us in. I wave at Ethan who's in the kitchen drinking some coffee. He waves back and smiles at me.

''Well this must be your brother?'' Ethan says. 

''Yes, sir. I'm her oldest brother.'' Marcus says while shaking is hand. 

''What's your name?" Ethan asks him.

''Marcus, sir.'' Marcus answers polite.

''You don't need to call me sir. That makes me feel so old.'' We all laugh. He indeed doesn't look old. Maybe his mid 40s but defently not over 50.

''Marcus is it okay if I go upstairs to look for the ring?'' I ask Marcus.

''i'll keep your brother company, you can go and look, Caleb will help you.'' Ethan says. Marcus nods and I walk up the stairs followingen Caleb. He leads me to the quest bedroom and opens the door.

''What does it look like? The ring?'' Caleb asks me.

'' It's a gold one with a big diamond in the middle and and smaller diamonds around it.'' I say to him. He nods and starts looking under the bed and on the ground. I pull of the sheets but it's not in the bed and also not under it.

After ten minutes of searching in the bedroom I come to a realization that I took a shower. When I take a shower I Always put the ring on the counter so it won't be ruined by the water. I run into to bathroom and look over the counter. It wasn't there.

''No, no, no, no, no, no it has te be here!'' Caleb walks in and sees me freaking out. 

''We will find it.'' He lays his hand on my shoulder. He has warm, soft hands and I get a nice feeling. 

I then see something sparkle on the ground next to the counter and I practacly jump at it. It's the ring!

''I got it!'' I sit down against the counter and put the ring back on my finger and kiss it. I start to laugh and Caleb starts to laugh to. His smile is really cute and big. He comes sit next to me and looks at the ring.

''It's a big one.'' He says while looking at it.

''Yes and old.'' I say also looking at it.

''Is it a family heirloom?''

''Yes it is. It was from my mothers grandmothers mother. She got it from her husband when their first child was born.''

''That first child was your mothers grandmother?'' I just nod while I keep staring at the ring.

''It's really pretty.'' Caleb says. He looks at the ring and then at me. I started blushing and got up from the ground. I handed my hand to Caleb to help him up. 

I walked down stairs to go tell Marcus I found the ring. While we were walking down the stairs I hear him and Ethan laugh. I looked up at Caleb.

''We can go back upstairs? Talk some more?'' He said.

''okay'' I walked behind him back up te stairs.

''Lauren?'' I hear Marcus say.

''Yes?'' I answererd.

''Did you find it?'' 

''Yes we did. Are you having fun?'' I ask him.

''Yes I am having fun. If you want we can stay a little longer.'' He says.
