Matt's POV
"I..think we should break up."
I can hear Elizebeth's heart breaking when I speak. Fuck, this is awful.
"Why?" She says, her voice cracking.
"I just can't be in a relationship right now. You are a great person but I don't want to continue this. It would hurt you more if I stayed." I say bluntly. I didn't mean for it to come out so harsh.
"I love you, Lizzy. You were always nice to me. Remember in 5th grade when no one wanted to sit by me on the first day of school because I had a bad haircut? You sat by me. Everyone thought I was weird but you didn't."
We both laugh and it falls silent. After a while I speak up and say
"You can do better than me."
I wipe her tears and give her a hug. She smells like she always does, vanilla. I'm really gonna miss her but it's better this way. We both know I was dragging her down. We don't have that much in common. This is the right decision. I think she knows that too.
