It's quiet for a long time. All I hear is Ryan's leg bouncing up and down hitting the table. Without thinking I lay my hand right above his knee getting him to stop.
"I'm sorry." I say leaning towards him.
He looks down.
"It's okay. Just please don't do that again. I don't need a babysitter."
I nod and give his leg a squeeze. I don't care if that's weird. I keep my hand on there for a little bit longer until the bell rings giving Ryan and I a jumpscare. I take my hand off hoping things between Ryan and I are cool.
We walk Tucker to his car saying our goodbyes. I walk Ryan home again.
"Are you still mad at me?"
"No Matt, it's okay." He says giving me a smile.
I really like his smile.
We get to his house.
"See you later." I say
"Bye soy boy."
Tucker probably told him to call me that.
I start walking to my house. I have no one to distract me so I start overanalyzing everything that happened. I try to stop thinking about but I can't shake the feeling of my hand on his knee. He didn't try to stop it. I didn't even register what I did when I was doing it, it just felt right. I get to my house and start watching The Office. I started to feel uncomfortable when Jim and Pam came on. I think I'm still weirded out with breaking up with Elizabeth. So I turn it off. I message Ryan for a bit and even up falling asleep before my parents get home. I guess they didn't try waking me up for dinner because I wake up at 2 am.
I wonder if Ryan is up, I mean he probably is.
Matt Watson: hey are you awake?
ryan magee 🗿: yup. i just finished up a game of PUBG, what's up?
Matt Watson: I fell asleep really early so I woke up and I'm not tired.
ryan magee 🗿: hey well i'm about to play another game so could we talk through discord?
Matt Watson: Yeah that's fine, can I play a match with you?
ryan magee 🗿: fuck ya
We end up playing until morning. Playing with Ryan made me realize how much I suck at PUBG. However talking to him for five hours was awesome. We first started just goofing off and talking about nonsense but we ended up getting really serious. He told me that he moved in with his mom and stepdad because his father kicked him out, he didn't say why. Apparently his stepdad is a huge asshole though. I talk about Elizabeth.
"So why didn't you like her anymore?" Ryan asks
"I'm not sure. I really liked her in the beginning of the relationship but I started to realize how different we are. We just weren't meant to be."
"Yeah, I mean that shit happens all the time...to be honest I've never been in a relationship before."
"Wait really? It's not a big deal or anything I'm just surprised."
"Yeah it's kind of lame that a 16 year old has never dated." Ryan says
"No, that's not what I meant. Like, I don't know, why would girls not want to date you? You seem dateable to me."
"I think people think I'm weird and ugly."
I get mad that he would think that.
"That's not true. Ryan, you are an awesome guy. I like weird, it's better than being boring and you aren't ugly. If I was a girl I would date you."
Ryan laughs. I can imagine him blushing.
"Thanks Matt. If I was a girl I would date you too."
