A few days had passed and the was the day where Lance could start new was finally here. He looked around his new room and it already had the majority of his stuff in it. Little boxes scattering around the room with the bed already set up. Lance walked over to one of his boxes that said 'pictures' and opened it up slowly. He smiled to himself when he saw the pile of pictures.
He picked up a picture slowly, looked at it and smiled. It was a picture of his mother and father when he was little playing in the park. He stared at it smiling, remembering his father taking the picture when we weren't looking and his mother smiling brightly. He look at another and saw him in the middle of the photo with a blue cake in front of him. Lance was turning seven and had cake on his face. He was laughing and his mother on the left of him, she was laughing while having cake on her hands. He stared at the photo almost like he wished it was real and came to life. He stare at it some more and thinking of that day.
*flashback*
"Honey! Blow out the candles and make a wish!" Mom said, he closed his eyes and thought about his wish. He opened his eyes and blew out the candles, he smiled while there was flash. He looked at his mother giggling as she kissed all over his face.
"What did wish for baby?" His mom asked, her smile making Lance happy, he hugged his mom close and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
"I wish to stay this happy forever, with you and daddy forever!" He said laughing, his mom cuddled him close. His father coming over to hug his family.
"Me and you both baby! I love you!" His mom said pulling her husband into the hug, he put his arm around her waist. Pulling his wife close, he kissed her cheek and smiled lovingly at his wife.
She pulled back from the hug and put a blue streak of frosting on Lance's face and laughed. Lance squealed and laughed, his mother started kissing all over my face and he squealed louder in laughter.
*present time*
"My wish didn't come true mommy." Lance whispered, wiping the tears that escaped and ran down his face. Lance picked up his glass snow globe, his hands shaking as more tears were falling down his face, his grip was loosening. A loud smash echoed through the room, the globe in pieces as Lance choked on a sob.
"Lance, honey are you okay?" Blake asked softly, he looked back at her and she walked over to the shaky boy. She looked at the ground where broken glass was and sighed.
"Lance? Honey?" She sat down next to him, looked at his photos and smiled.
"Hey, I know it's hard to look at these photo right now. I understand that it's hard, but this might heal your heart over time. The pain is only temporary, but the memories are permanent." Blake said as she smiled at the boy, she held his hand and stroked his knuckles softly.
"I know, but its so hard. In a few days it's gonna be their death anniversary, I don't think I can make it through the day without thinking about them." Lance said, his voice shaky and tired from the straining.
"I know honey, I'll let you stay home, ok?" Blake asked, Lance nodded his head and looked back to the picture. He stood up and put the picture on his decorated desk, smiling at the picture once again.
"When am I gonna start to go to that hell hole?" Lance asked crossing his arms, rubbing his head from all the previous crying he'd done.
"First of all watch your language young man and second you'll start next week." Blake explained, walking over to one of the scattered boxes. Cutting the tape off and taking things out neatly.
Lance watched Blake taking things out of the box, setting them on the desk in their correct placement. She took out Lance's favorite snow globes, over the years Lance had collected snow globes. Each from places they'd visited for vacations, so far he has New Jersey, California, Hawaii, Texas, Italy, Mexico, Cuba, Virginia, and England. He walked over to the the globes and picked the one when they visited Cuba. He liked that place, he loved when they went to beach. When he saw family's there smiling and laughing, but he only sat there and stared at the ocean.
Lance thought how life was simpler back then, he would laughed, he would smile, and most importantly he was happy. Don't get him wrong he loved Blake and Justin, but it's just not the same. He only smiled and laughed when it was only him, Blake, and Justin. Other than that he didn't talk, he learned sign language, so did Justin and Blake.
"Life was simpler back then." Lance kept repeating it to himself.
He sat down on the bed with the snow globe still in his hand. He laid down and closed his eyes, accepting the darkness to fill his body and pull him into unconsciousness.
