Muted Treasure

Observation time!

Ever since lunch, Lana been having a close watch on Keith. Every time she would see him get the lightest tint of red when lance chuckled or giggled. It only fueled her actions to find out the truth more and more.

She'd seen him get red, his pale face turning the slightest tint that made her more suspicious of that act put on. She wondered if he knew about the situation with Lance's parents. Would the situation would be any better? She looked at lance and saw him focusing on the lesson the teacher was rambling about. It was almost the end of the day, with only two more classes to go. She tried to memorize the schedule for the both of them. She looked at our paper and it read:

1st pd: Science
2nd pd:Literature
3rd pd:English
4th pd:music
5th pd:lunch
6th pd:Gym/ Spanish
7th pd: Technology
8th pd: math
9th pd:Study hall

Which some were easy to memorize, but since her schedule got changed to be with lance. She looked back at lance and saw him staring at her with curiosity.

"What are we gonna do at study hall?" He signed asking, Lana chuckled and shrugged.

"Anything we want." Lana whispered, Lance groaned at the answer since he didn't know anything about this school. He thought about it for a second then turned back to her.

"Well, I was wondering if we could stop by the library for a bit. I would like to get books to read when I get home."He signed, Lana nodded and scrunched her nose at him.

"Ew. You like books! I couldn't stay focused even to even finish the damn thing." Lana said and he chuckled.

"Hey lance?" Lana whispered, he hummed and looked over at her.

"What was it like at your old school?" Lana asked, she looked over and Lance looked like he was lost in thought.

"I was bullied a lot. I was the 'mute freak' and when they found out about my parents, it got worst. They called me orphan a lot, but something else got their attention more." Lance signed taking on a deep breath, Lana looked at him confused. She wanted to know more about it, he looked over at her and half smiled.

"What happened?" Lana asked, Lance hummed and starting to doodle on his paper. He brought his hands up and thought about it for a second before continuing.

"Well, when they found out I was bi. They'd call me fag or gay. I was pushed and hit a lot during school. I was always the 'shy Cuban'. I was in the suburbs area, where most kids thought I was weird because my parents were white. So they figured I was adopted or my mom cheated on Justin, it started there." Lance explained looking up every once and a while. He smiled at Lana and she gave him a reassuring smile.

"Why did you tell me all that?" Lana asked, Lance looked at her and thought for a second.

"I feel like I could trust you, you've been super nice since I came here and I really appreciate it." He signed smiling at Lana with his straight white teeth, she nodded.

"Thank you, for trusting me. I hope we can grow into close friends." Lana said hopefully, he nodded and smiled at her.

"Alright class that'll be all for today! Have a nice day!" Mrs. Legery said smiling. The duo got their stuff together and walked out of the room. They were walking to math, until Lance stopped and looked ahead. Lana looked ahead and saw the guys that were sitting at lunch with them and he got tense.

"What's wrong?" Lana asked and he shook his head and looked down, continuing walking. Lana saw the guys look at them and Keith looked confused and Lana sent a glare to him. They got to math and he sat down in a seat, Lana following in suit.

"What was that all about?" Lana asked and he took a deep breath, Lance hummed and looked over.

"He reminds me of my old school. The way he acted, it reminded me and I got scared." He signed taking a deep breath again. The guys walked in and walked to the seat in front of them, Lance tensed again and Lana looked at him and frowned.

"Hey, want me to ask them to move?" Lana whispered to Lance and he shook his head no.

"I don't wanna be a pain. Plus class is about to start." Lance signed and Lana looked over the the guys, them looking back at them.

"What you guys talking about?" Shiro asked, Lana looked at Lance and he shrugged.

"Um math?" Lana said, coming out more like a question than a statement.

"Lier!" Shiro said smiling, Lana huffed and and looked at them.

"Fine, we were talking what we were gonna do for free time." Lana said speaking more confident, she smiled when she saw he believed it.

"Oh? What were you guys gonna do?" Shiro asked, looking between the two.

"We have no idea." Lana lies, she looked over at lance and he looked at her with a dead pan look.

"Oh? Well me and Shiro are gonna go to the library and study. Wanna come?" Keith asked, him looking over at us, Shiro staring at his brother surprised. Lance shrugged and Lana nodded, they were gonna do there anyway.

"Why don't you talk?" Keith blurted out again and Lance tensed even more. Shiro groaned looking at his brother tiredly.

"That's none of your fucking business!" Lana said glaring at him, Keith hummed looking at Lance.

"Do you even know?!" Keith asked Lana, she glared at the mullet.

"In fact I do!" Lana said sending him a dagger look, Lance looked at her pleading to just stop.

"Well if she knows why can't we know?" Keith asked and Shiro looked at Keith with a serious look.

"Keith! If he doesn't want to tell us he doesn't have to!" Shiro said, trying to put this conversation to an end.

"Why do you wanna know so bad?" Lana asked, Keith staring at Lana.

"Because I'm curious and I wanna know!" Keith said, he looked at Lance hoping he'd answer.

"Mmhmm sure! You probably have a crush on him!" Lana said laughing, Lance looked up in shock. Lana smirked at Keith as his face had a little red tint to it.

"Right! Like I would have a crush on a mute freak!" Keith scoffed, she looked over at Lance and he looked at the ground.

"Why don't you shut your fucking mouth before I make you!" Lana yelled and people looked over at us, Keith glaring at the women.

"How about everyone just calm down!" Shiro said standing up, pushing Keith down to his seat.

"Why protect him! He's insulting a boy that didn't do shit to him!" Lana yelled, pointing at Keith. Keith swatted her hand away from him, he tried to get up again.

"Keith stop!" Shiro ordered, Lana glaring at both of them. She looked over at lance and she noticed he had his phone out. All Lana could see was 'I'm busy lance, I can't bud. I'll see you when you get home. Love you.'. Then lance got up and walked out the classroom and Lana running after him.

"Lance where are you going?" Lana asked and Lance waved her off obviously saying 'fuck off'

"Lance? Where the hell are you going?" Lana yelled again, he stopped and looked back at her.

"Home." He signed, she looked confused.

"How are you getting home?" She asked, he huffed and shrugged.

"I don't care!" He signed, turning around to get away from this place.

"Wanna skip?" Lana asked and he nodded, she caught up him quickly.

"Where do you wanna go?" Lana asked and he shrugged, continuing down the long hallway.
