A Night To Remember or A Night To Forget? {Forth&Beam}

Chapter 30

"But on a serious note Forth." I looked back at Earth, and he had a look of concern written all over his face.

"What's up man?" I said, even though I knew what was on his mind. He had the same look that everyone always give me when they are going to bring up Beam and that fucking night.

"How is he? Beam I mean, how is he holding up?" I look down at my desk, thinking of what I should say to him. Like Lam, Earth is also one of my good friends. I met him when I we started university, But I really don't want to say much about Beam to anyone. I know that the subject of my boyfriend has been a very hot topic on everyone's tongue as of late. He doesn't have much privacy anymore, everyone want to know shit that has nothing to do with them. "Look dude, I'm not trying to probe or be nosey. Like everyone else, I'm just concerned. I just want to know that he is keeping his head up, I'm really happy that he started attending his classes again. He can't let this thing, and what people have to say get him down. Because people will always have something to say when it's not happening to them. Beam's a really good guy, and I would hate to see him not be able to get past this." I listen as he spoke. "Like I said Forth, people are going to talk. But he needs to stay strong, and not feed into anything that they have to say. Most just want the attention."

"I know Earth, and that is what I tell him. I see it little by little everyday, the effort that he puts in. To not let it get to him and bring him down. But the the thing is, most of the time when I try to talk to him and comfort him. He just pushes me away, I feel so useless sometimes. I feel like I am doing nothing to help him." I put my head on my desk, and close my eyes.

"Forth you just have to be patient with him. Give him time, and he will start to open up about that night. They say it's the people closest to you that gets pushed away. Just keep letting him know that you are there for him no matter what. Ohh and another big thing is, you can't treat him like he is a different person. Because he is not, he is the same Beam; and he is still capable of doing everything as before. You also don't always need to be cautious of what you say to or in front of him. Yes it is a sensitive topic, but it is not taboo." I watched him as he spoke, he was looking deeply into my eyes, but it also looked like he was looking past me. Earths eyes were also filled with a sadness, a type of sadness that I have never seen in them before.

"Earth, how do you know so much about this?" I asked. I really want to know how and why he has so much knowledge about this topic. For a split second, I saw Earths eyes glazed over, but before I could make out what it was. He held his head down, and looked at his hands.

"Forth." He stopped and looked around the classroom making sure that we did not have an unwanted audience. Then he took a deep breath, and brought his eyes back onto mine. "Let's just say... I know what Beam is going through." My eyes widen, he left me in complete shock.

"What? Earth. I... I never knew. I mean, you've never said anything..."

"Well that's not something one just brings up in a conversation Forth." He said with a smiled.

"Fuck. I know, I, I really didn't mean it like that." I feel like a peace of shit, of course he wouldn't just bring something like that up.

"Its Cool dude, I know what you meant." We looked at each other not saying anything for a few seconds. "Your probably wondering when it happened, am I right? How in the hell did he know that I was thinking about that. 'Yes, But I know that it is not an appropriate question.' "Now your thinking that's not a question that you should be asking right?"

"How the hell do you keep reading my mind man?"

"Lucky guess maybe." He said with a smirk.

"It uhm, happened six years ago; when I was in my second year of high school. I went to a party, and accept a drink from the wrong person and... we'll you can guess what happened next."

"Oh my god man. Tell me they got caught."

"Yeah he did. Still in prison too, but that doesn't undo the damage that was done..."

"Earth." I said reaching over and putting my hand on his left shoulder. I really don't know what I should say to him.

"It's ok Forth, as they say. Time heals all things." "I'm doing much better now man, you don't have to worry . Like I said before, you just need to be there for Beam when he is ready to talk about it. I had a lot of people in my corner back then; and that really helped."

"I am definitely in his corner no matter what, a hundred and ten percent."

"And that exactly what he needs." "But anyway dude that's enough of that. I was not planning to do a therapy session this morning. That will be five hundred dollars Mr. Jaturapoom." We burst out in laughter.

"Well since I'm a broke college kid, how about I treat you to lunch sometime instead?" (Literally me when I was in college😁)

"Well I guess since thats the best you can do... I suppose I will accept." Earth said with a wink.

"Thanks bro, and I mean for everything. I know that it was hard for you to bring that up. I really appreciate it."

"Not a problem man." We talked for a few more minutes before the professor walked, and the entire morning, the only thing that was on my mind. Was getting home to Beam.
