ARIA'S POV
Song suggestion: Problems - Petit Biscuit
As I reached Ali's floor, she was just shutting her front door.
"Babe the cab's downstairs because my driver's out, you're right on time and oh my god you look gorgeous!", she rambled giving me an air kiss.
"Thanks Ali. You look hot as always", I said rolling my eyes and laughing.
I wish I could be more like her. She was so confident in her own body and reckless. She looked beautiful no matter what she wore. No knew how insecure I really was about myself.
We got into the waiting cab and started talking. By the time we reached the venue the sun had already begun to set.
"Are we taking a cab back home too? I could call my driver. He'll be back from dropping my dad off to the airport by then.", I asked. It would be pretty late and I didn't think it was such a good idea for the two of us to take a cab home alone past midnight.
"Nah don't worry about it, I convinced Sam to drive us home", she said with a wink
Sam was a senior in Ali's school who was her brother's best friend. She'd been smitten the minute she'd laid eyes on him.
As I stepped out I could hear loud music blaring and the sounds of bottles clinking. With a sigh I gave Ali a wary smile as she grabbed my hand and pulled me inside.
Someone handed me a bottle of beer which I quickly left on a table and walked of briskly. I'd never consumed liquor before and didn't know if I could hold it. No one knew I'd never had alcohol before either, except my closest friends. I wasn't planning on puking all over Ali's dress tonight.
Speaking of her, she was no where to be seen. Sam had whisked her off as soon as we'd stepped in. I wasn't complaining. At least one of us has a love life and plus, he seemed like a great guy.
"Aria", a deeply accented voice sounded behind me.
I didn't have to turn around to know who it was. There he stood looking like he'd stepped out of a GQ cover shoot, leaving me tongue tied again.
"Hey...um", I stammered, realizing I didn't know his name yet and also making a mental note that he knew mine despite the fact that I'd never mentioned it to him.
"Ryan", he said, his gaze intent.
"Ryan", I dumbly repeated cocking my head to one side involuntarily. He licked his lips and looked down at the glass of alcohol in his hand.
"I see you went with my advice on the dress", he smirked.
"Don't give yourself much of importance. It just looked better", I said looking down at my black pumps, aware that his eyes were scanning me.
"Come with me", he said suddenly. Instantly I knew it would be an unforgettable night as I found myself following him.
